Page 6 of Lexi Lets Go

Just as she was about to sit at her desk, she heard the front door open and a bunch of people come in. She stepped out into the reception area to greet them. It was the same as the diner, most of them on their phones all surrounding him.

"Is that meeting room available?" asked the woman who seemed to be in charge of this little circus.

"Yes, right this way," Lexi said, leading them down the hall into the meeting room that had been set up for them. As they all scuttled in and got out laptops and started to work, a hand settled on the small of her back. That touch sent a zing through her body like nothing she had ever experienced before. As she turned around, Liam's sudden presence sent shivers down her spine. She felt paralyzed, unable to move a muscle as he hovered behind her. The pull towards him, to be physically close to him, was like nothing she had ever felt before. No wonder he was a superstar.

"I was wondering if you might have any rooms available. I would love to take a shower," he said with his million-dollar smile. His eyes were kinder than Lexi would have imagined them to be, kind and deep brown. The dimples in his cheeks were so deep she just wanted to lick them. This was getting out of hand. She could not get wrapped up in all this nonsense.

"Of course. I’ll go see which rooms are available and get a key for you."

"I'll come with you," said the woman.

"Perfect. You have the card for all of this?"

The woman gave her a face that said, ‘you're stupid for even asking’.

"Right, well, follow me," said Lexi with her best service industry smile and voice.

They made their way back to the front desk and Lexi pulled up the computer to see what rooms were available. She put him in their best room, because he was a superstar after all, and turned to the back wall to get the key.

"What's this?" asked the woman looking at the key in her hand like it was a completely foreign object to her.

"That is the room key. I put him in eight. It has the best view in the inn. You can see the falls from the window."

"This is a room key?" She asked again.

"Yes. Can I please have your card to put on file for the rooms and other charges?" Lexi asked, struggling to keep the customer service smile on her face.

"Are you sure you don't need a piece of gold from my satchel?" the woman asked, still staring at the key in her hand like it was from another planet.

"I'm sorry?"

"I just haven't seen an actual room key before," she said, finally meeting Lexi’s eyes.

"Yes, well, we are a little old school here, but we do need modern money."

"Right," said the woman, handing Lexi the card as she looked down at her phone screen.

Taking the black AmEx card from her hand, Lexi scanned it into her system.

"Do you think you might need more rooms tonight?" she asked.

"No, the bus should be up and running. We have a show tomorrow," she said curtly.

"Of course. If anything changes just let me know."

At that, the woman turned around without another word and left. Well, this was going to be an interesting day.

After taking care of the meeting room and other room, Lexi settled into as much of a normal schedule as she could. The front desk had been abandoned most of the morning. Nancy was busy taking excellent care of the water and coffee in the meeting room. Lexi decided just to let Nancy have her fun. It wasn't every day that their small town was visited by one of the country's biggest pop idols. But the work needed to be done, so Lexi settled herself behind the front desk, started getting today's check-ins ready, and finished the two check-outs they had that morning. It was a slow day today besides the famous distraction that was currently showering.

Woah. That was the wrong thought to have, but once that thought had taken hold, there was no shaking it. Lexi was just imagining him in the shower, water running down his chest, his soapy hands rubbing over his chest and arms and stomach and...

"Can I ask you a question?" She heard that velvety voice ask.

"Hmmm?" she almost purred, not looking up, still lost in her own thoughts. Her not safe for work thoughts.

"Those falls I could see from the window. Is there a trail to see those closer?"

She seemed to finally snap out of it only to be face to face in the empty reception area with Liam James. She could feel the flush creeping up her face.
