Her head fell black against my shoulder and her walls tightened around me, so I knew she was close. I slid my hand between her thighs to stimulate her bundle of nerves, and she gasped and then moaned.

One more thrust and stroke of her clit and she went off like a rocket. I watched her, entranced by the way pleasure flitted across her face, and the sound of my name rolling off her tongue. It didn’t take long for me to be consumed by the same haze of sexual bliss. I shuddered against her before slipping into a euphoric state.

Lying practically lifeless, I still held on to her with one arm. We were still connected, and I wanted to stay that way for as long as possible. Our heavy breathing was the only sound in the room for a while.

When she finally stirred, I lifted my arm to allow her to move. I slipped out of her warm sheath as she turned to face me. Cass watched me with intensity, making me wish I could read her mind.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

A small smile lifted her lips. “I’m amazing.” After a moment’s pause, she said, “Damian?”

Her creased eyebrows and the uncertainty in her voice scared me a little. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. It’s just that I…”

I waited, hoping she wasn’t about to find a reason to push me away again.

She tried again. “I… care about you.”

I held her gaze and looked deeper because she didn’t have her guard up. It took great effort to keep my smile from surfacing. Cassandra Bennet had fallen for me—at least, I hoped that’s what she really wanted to say—as I’d fallen for her. I’d give her time to get used to the idea. Hopefully, she’d say the words one day soon.

I kissed her forehead. “I care about you too, dulzura. Very much.”

She seemed to relax as she grinned. “I love it when you call me that.”

“Well, you are incredibly sweet. So sweet, I need another taste before we get out of this bed.” I rolled us over, careful to keep my weight off her. Her giggles filled the air as I snagged her earlobe between my teeth. “I need to taste every inch of you.”

Her laughter turned to delighted moans as I teased her back into arousal.

I stepped out of the bathroom, closed the door, and leaned against it. Blowing out a long breath, I rested my palm on my forehead. My skin was still warm—more from blushing nonstop rather than from the warm shower.

Damian had moved our morning sexcapades from the bedroom to the bathroom. He was insatiable, and I loved it because he desired me… with my surprise pregnancy, emotional baggage, and all.

I was in deep with him—head over heels in love with the man. Of course, I chickened out this morning when I tried to tell him how I felt. I stared at the carpet fighting off the usual flare of uncertainty. With my instilled fear of relationships, it was hard to just jump in with Damian, despite how strongly I felt about him.

The claws of doubt still reached out and tried to catch me in their grip, but I’d fight harder to shake its hold this time around. I had something special with Damian, and I’d try my best not to ruin it.

“Just relax and go with it,” I whispered, peeling myself off the door. Right now, I had Damian with me and I’d enjoy his company for however long he stayed.

Making my way to the kitchen. I wondered what I’d make him for breakfast. My culinary skills were subpar, and I hadn’t gone grocery shopping since I came back from New York. I typically lived off Tessa’s cooking because she was a goddess in the kitchen.

“Damn it,” I grumbled, staring at the sparse pickings in the refrigerator. Maybe I could run to the bakery for something. I heard the front door open and close but didn’t give it a second thought. I thought Damian had finished with his shower and ran out to his car for something, but then I heard Tessa’s familiar happy off-tune humming.

Gasping, I scurried to the living room, making sure my stomach was hidden by my oversized robe. When Tessa saw me, she beamed and sang, “Good morning!”

“Morning. What are you doing here?”

She frowned. “Honey, you look flushed.” Placing the back of her hand on my forehead, she asked, “Are you feeling ill?”

My face practically melted off from the heat of my embarrassment. Not ill, just extremely sexually satisfied. “Er… I’m fine. You need to leave.”

Tessa scoffed. Her eyes widened and filled with disbelief. “Since when do you kick me out of your place?” She held up a huge paper bag. “I made one of your favorites, cream cheese danish. I also brought fresh fruits.”

My mouth watered, my stomach rumbled, and my heart melted. Leave it up to Tessa to make sure I got my fix of fattening pastries while balancing it with healthy fruits. “Awe, Tess, you’re so sweet. Thank you so much, but you have to go.”
