His expression was lit with amusement, but his eyes were smoldering and fixed on my mouth. My breath caught in my throat because I was on the verge of begging him to kiss me.
“I’m not that much of a control freak to keep you here if you’re uncomfortable. I can take you back to your hotel when you’re ready.”
“I’m not uncomfortable. Really. I’m just…” Heat spread from my neck to my face. “It’s just that I don’t want to stay and risk something happening to further complicate things between us.”
His right eyebrow shot up. “Something like what?”
“Sex,” I huffed, throwing my arms up in defeat. “Sleeping together again might complicate things.”
“You mean more than a surprise pregnancy?” He stared at me as if I’d gone insane. “Cass, I don’t think it can get any more complicated than that.”
I blew out a long breath that turned into a little laugh. “When you put that out there, I sound crazy, don’t I?”
“It’s okay. I like a little crazy.” He shrugged.
My giggle took me by surprise. “Gosh, Damian, why do you have to be so…?” Perfect for me. The thought made my heart do somersaults. I wasn’t sure if it was from the panic that he was wearing me down so fast or from relief that he was so patient.
“So what?” he urged.
I pursed my lips. “It doesn’t matter.” Covering the distance between us, I whispered, “I’ll stay with you tonight.”
I caught the glint of surprise followed by the satisfaction that flickered in his eyes before I pressed my lips to his.

CASS
It didn’t take long for the underlying sexual tension that simmered between us to surface. It happened whenever we made the slightest contact. I supposed that was something good. Sexual chemistry was always welcome, but it scared me. I couldn’t allow myself to need Damian in any way.
The pressure of his mouth on mine eased before he pulled away. His lips hovered over mine. “When you say stay the night, do you mean just this good night kiss and you go to the guest room?” he asked.
I ran my tongue over my lips, savoring his taste, and smiled. “I meant, I’ll stay the night in your be—”
My feet left the floor before I even finished, making me gasp. I straddled Damian as he carried me out of the kitchen. He was moving too fast for me to admire the rooms I hadn’t seen yet, but I bet everything was super swanky. I mean, there was a concierge in the lobby.
I laughed when he picked up speed, carrying my weight as if he was carrying a feather. It was flattering to know a man like him wanted me that much. Maybe Damian was out of my league, but it was hard to care when I was in his bedroom. He flipped a switch that flooded the room with light.
The space was magnificent. My artist’s eye quickly took in the charcoal gray and navy blue color theme. It was dark and masculine just like him. One side of the wall was made of floor-to-ceiling windows with a glass door that led to a terrace. I bet the view was incredible out there. It was even better inside though. Staring into his eyes that resembled the dark sky rivaled any picturesque view of the city.
My feet touched the plush rug in front of a California King. Immediately, I pushed Damian’s shirt off his shoulders and he shrugged it off. My top went flying and when he reached for the button of my jeans—that I had to leave undone to accommodate my growing stomach—I froze.
Instantly, he picked up on my discomfort. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s just…” I was embarrassed to admit that I was self-conscious. The last time he saw me, I was flat, trimmed, and tucked. Now, I was bigger. “It’s the first time you’re seeing me…” I gulped, “...pregnant.”
For a moment he looked baffled, then realization seemed to dawn. His gaze dropped to my slightly fuller breasts and then to my stomach. I don’t know why I held my breath, but I had to remind myself to breathe.
“You look incredible, Cass.”
I could imagine I flushed from the root of my hair to my toenails.
He plucked my bra straps from my shoulders and ran a finger over the swells of my breasts. “As sexy as ever.”
With skilled fingers, he undid the front clasp, and it fell to the floor. My jeans and panties disappeared next. Damian stood back and swept me from head to toe with blatant hunger.
Relieved that he wasn’t perturbed by my changing body, I relaxed.
He ran his fingertips over my stomach, making me shiver. Then he frowned, and I was worried that he’d changed his mind.
