Ula came over. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know.” Merry grimaced. “You know how happy that makes me.”

“Yeah. I am aware.” Ula put a hand on her forehead and blinked. “Uh, Merry, your heat is starting.”

“No. It isn’t due until Monday. I have stuff to do.” Merry stared at Ula and swayed.

“No, you don’t. You are going to wait here until one of your alphas arrives.” Ula checked Merry’s eyes and nodded. “Right, Merry, open your phone. Do you have their numbers?”

“We have a chat.”

“Right. I will put a message in there and try and get one of them to take you.”

“No. I can go to the boathouse. Your guys are coming soon, so I should be out of here.” She said it but opened her phone and handed it to Ula.

Ula’s thumbs moved furiously, and she sent the message. “Now we wait.”

The phone started to hum and buzz a moment later. Ula looked and smiled. “A driver is coming for you to take you to Giovanni. We have ten minutes to get you ready to travel.”

“No. I can’t leave you here.”

“I am contacting my guys. Kasim is getting his place ready for me.” Ula smiled and walked Merry to her room, sitting her on the edge of the couch while Ula grabbed her small suitcase and packed it full of essentials from skincare to Merry’s favourite sleep shirt as well as some sexy stuff.

“I am not going to need that.”

“You have five minutes. Get into a cold shower so you don’t hot box your driver.”

Merry nodded and headed for her shower. She was out and shivering when she put on the sweat suit that Ula had left for her. She braided her hair into a thick column and tied it off. She stepped into the boat shoes and left the bathroom. Her phone was sitting on her bed, and she thumbed it open. When she saw the chat, she replied. Just took a cold shower. Should be fine for an hour. I look fancy homeless but am otherwise fine.

Thomas asked, Any idea what set you off?

She quietly snorted and answered, Dunno. Yesterday was just like any other day. Nothing new in my environment at all.

Richard sent her a blackbird emoji. You are only a few days ahead of time.

Yes, but I hate rushing you. And I am not leaving here until Ula’s alphas have shown up.

Giovanni said, They should be there by now. Go look, and let us know.

She walked past Ula’s room and saw one of the guys going down on her. One bunny, check. One redhead, check.

She walked into the kitchen and saw Kasim nibbling a macaron and having a cup of coffee.

He rose to his feet. “Merry. How are you feeling?”

“Weird, but I have chilled everything down. You are going to take Ula?”

He smiled slowly. “Oh, you mean today. Yes. My housekeeper is ecstatic. The nest at my home is being refit right now. She will be comfortable tonight.”

Merry nodded. “Bring one of the blankets from my bed. If she won’t settle tonight, give it to her. My scent will make her comfortable. Until she is healed, yours will just frustrate her. But that being said, she should get used to you in a day or two.”

There was a knock at the door, and Kasim went to answer it. “Merry, your ride is here.”

She walked over to the door and saw the disappointment on the beta’s face. “Sorry. I am trying not to play dress-up today. The longer I can keep myself in this state, the less pain there will be.”

He blinked.

She turned to Kasim. “Tell Ula I will call her as soon as this is over.”
