He nodded. “I have your bag and a pack of treats she got for you.”
“How long was I in the shower?” She smiled as he gave the driver her bag.
“We arrived just as you went in. The bunny gave us strict instructions, and then she let Clark help her.”
She smiled. “So, you are planning on fixing her faster than anticipated?”
Kasim shrugged. “It will take effort, but we will persevere.”
She snorted. “You are truly brave to take this on.”
He grinned. “Be well, and as soon as you are out of it, contact Ula. She will be worried until then.”
“Got it. I would like to be with her when she does the detox. She has tried it once before, and the result was... violent.”
“You will have to give her over to her alphas eventually.”
“I know. I just want to make sure that she can come to you relaxed and happy, not vomiting and screaming. Good memories for an easier start.”
Kasim looked at her solemnly. “I think we can handle it.”
“Fine. Call me if she needs me.”
He nodded. “We will. I swear.”
“Good. I will know if you don’t.”
He blinked. “How will you know?”
She looked back at the door where the driver was waiting. “The tattoos aren’t decorative. They are functional. You can ask Ula how they work.”
“I will. Now, go. Giovanni is waiting for you.”
She shuddered, and Kasim grinned. “I wish I had recorded that for him, but I suppose he will see it soon enough.”
Merry sighed and grabbed her laptop case and slid her phone into it. She walked to the door. “I am serious. Keep me posted. And if no one is going to be here, bring the meringues to Giovanni’s, and I will make it up when I get out from under.”
“Hey, don’t we get any?”
“If you are at Giovanni’s, yes.”
He inclined his head. “Fair enough.”
His phone rang, and he answered it. “Yes, Gio, she is trying to negotiate on Ula’s behalf.”
He grinned and held his phone out. “Here you go.”
“Uh, hello, Giovanni?”
There was a deep sigh and a short growl. “Merry, get your ass in the car. Ula will be fine, or Walter will be missing his head.”
“Oh. Okay. Thanks for making it better.”
He chuckled. “If you think that made it better, get your ass in the car.”
“I disappointed your driver, by the way. He was looking for something smaller and fluffier.”
“He will learn. Get in the car, Merry.”
