“I think so. Life was easier before everything changed.”
“Yeah, well, at least you don’t look like an omega. You don’t look as much of a scared little bunny as most would imagine. More like a warrior bunny.”
Ula punched her gently. “You are treating this lightly. They have mentioned me moving away with them. I don’t want to.”
“Aw, Ula. We both knew this was temporary once we figured out what the hell was going on with us. I hope that one day I run into the guy that set this off so I can kick him in the nuts.”
“Is that when you are going to stop binding?” Ula leaned back and stared at Merry.
“It is so much easier to find shirts that fit when the girls are down for the day.”
“But your figure is so pretty.”
“Yes, but my body does the job in any configuration. I still make the money and work.”
“How’s your family?”
“Grandpa’s will was read, and the funeral was nice. I even managed to cover all my tattoos, so my parents managed to introduce me to people.” Merry grinned, her crystal grey eyes sparkling.
“I am sorry about your grandpa.”
“He was ready to go, so he went.” She smiled softly. “I will miss him, but he’s at peace. He made it over a century, so that is pretty damned good.”
Ula played with Merry’s super soft midnight hair. “Maybe my guys can find your mate for you. Foxes are good at being sneaky.”
“We don’t even know what I am for absolute certain, bunny.”
“We know it’s a bird or something with wings.”
“Not many alphas who are birds. More fur than feathers.” Merry smiled. “I am good.”
“How many tattoos are you up to?”
“Aside from our tattoo? Just three.”
“Can I see them?”
“They are under the binding right now.”
Ula looked at her friend and scowled. She darted around behind Merry and yanked her shirt up. The beasts were across her shoulders and tied together with vines. A black swan, a raven, and what appeared to be a sabretooth tiger.
“Wow. When did you get these?”
“Over the last two months. Can you put my shirt down? I have to finish fooding.”
Ula chuckled and dropped the shirt back into place. “So, you know what they are.”
Merry got back to her white sauce. “My beast does. She’s broody as hell.”
“Do you want to share my nest?”
“It is going to be weird for your guys if you smell like me.”
Ula was nervous. “You really don’t mind me leaving you?”
“Bound by ink, baby. You know where to find me.” She bumped her elbow against Ula’s. “I will miss you, but you can’t put your life on hold for me. When you can walk again, we can go for coffee.”
Ula looked at her in shock. “What?”
