Kasim blinked and chuckled. “We will have to talk this over with Walter and your friend.”
Ula swallowed. “You don’t understand what she’s done for me, how she makes me feel. She’s my best friend and closer than my sister ever was.” She felt pain in her hands, and she was wringing them together.
Kasim frowned. “That doesn’t sound healthy.”
She made a fist and scowled at him. “You don’t understand.”
“May we meet her?”
“Uh...”
Clark smiled. “Ask her.”
Ula typed and asked Merry if she could bring her two prospective alphas for dinner.
There was a laughing face. As long as I don’t have to put them on the menu. Bring them. I will make some extra garlic bread.
You are the best. Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you?
You just did. How long do I have?
We are still at the day camp. They fired me for being a perv.
They aren’t wrong.
Ula gasped. Just because we haven’t found your alphas yet doesn’t mean that I am a perv.
Punkin, we both are. These bodies are not made for speed. See you in half an hour.
Ula laughed and was still grinning when she put her phone away. “You two are invited for dinner if you don’t have other plans.”
Clark sent her a text that said, Address, please.
She sent the details, and then she did it again for Kasim. They now knew where she lived.
“Um, I am gonna go.”
Kasim smiled. “Can we bring anything, bunny?”
“I will ask.” She sent the query to Merry, and when the reply shot back, she said, “Whatever you like to drink. Merry isn’t good with figuring beverages out.”
Kasim nodded. “We will meet you there. Is it a house or apartment?”
“Blue house. Near the lake.”
Clark took her hand and walked her to her car. He stood next to her while she got in and buckled up. He stepped back, and she started her car, driving out while not peeling out.
As soon as she was out of their line of sight, she floored it. She had a lot to tell Merry and not a lot of time to do it.
She parked and ran into the house, looking for her friend. Merry was standing in the kitchen, and the whole house smelled amazing.
Ula looked at her and started to sniffle. Merry set her spoon down and opened her arms. Ula cuddled up against her and inhaled the comforting scent that her friend exuded.
Merry chuckled. “I am glad that you have found them. Foxes?”
“I have no idea. They both are honey tongues and keep mentioning a third guy named Walter.”
“Do you want a den of your own? Or a warren?” Merry kept stroking her back.
