“I won’t go quietly. What are you going to do, knock me out again and stuff me in your carry on?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. You honestly think we are flying commercial? That’s cute. I made some calls and paid a shit ton of money, but we have our own private plane, and I don’t know if you remember, but I have my pilot’s license. Our runway will be clear for takeoff in a couple of hours. So why don’t you take another nap?”

“Flynn, don’t—” and then it’s lights out again.

Chapter 26

Graham

OwenandIbothchange back into uniforms. On the way, I called my dad and had him run literally everything he can to find out as much as possible about Flynn. I’m sure Chief is doing the same thing, but he wouldn’t tell me anything since I am not supposed to be out looking for her right now.

“I called one of the guys on shift today. They don’t have much yet. He hasn’t used any of his cards, and none of the other counties have seen his truck,” Owen says.

“Damn it. I haven’t heard anything concrete from my dad yet either.” I hit the steering wheel. “Where could he have taken her?”

“I don’t know, man, but we will find her.”

We drive around for a while just looking. Owen keeps in touch with his buddy on shift today. They finally got a warrant to go in his house but there was no sign of Winry. Driving around is starting to feel pointless. He took her more than three hours ago; they could be out of the state by now.

My phone starts to buzz, and my heart starts to race. It’s Ivy. I answer and put her on speaker.

“Hey, have you heard anything?” I ask, getting straight to the point.

“Yes and no. I haven’t heard anything from her or her sisters, but I did happen to run into Flynn’s recent girlfriend, Sara. It took some threatening, but she told me that Flynn’s parents own a beach house out in the Northshore area. She couldn’t remember the exact address but said it was on Seaside Drive and it’s all white with blue shutters on the windows.”

“That’s great. Thank you, Ivy. We will go check it out and let you know.” I hang up.

“I know that area. Pull over and switch with me, and then you can call this in,” Owen says.

I want to argue that we don’t have time to stop, but I know it will be faster for him to drive since he is familiar with the area. I pull over and we switch. I dial Chief and get ready for an ass chewing.

“Taylor, why are you calling me?” he barks.

“I got a call from Ivy, she said found out that Flynn’s parents have a beach house out in Northshore. We have the street name and a description of the house. Owen and I are headed that way to check it out.”

“You and Owen… ugh, I should have known you wouldn’t listen to me. I will work on getting the address and a warrant for it. You and Owen drive the area in the meantime, see if you see anything. Be smart. We don’t want him to get away with this, so don’t anything unless you have probable cause.”

“Yes sir.” We hang up.

Northshore is only about twenty minutes south of Aster Creek, so we are there in no time at all. Chief calls back with a definite address, but we still don’t have a warrant yet, so Owen and I just have to sit outside and wait. I feel like I am about to lose my mind waiting.

I stare at this house, and in my gut I know that Winry is in there, but all I can do is sit and wait while he is doing God knows what to her. I can’t sit still. I am constantly fidgeting in my seat and bouncing my knee.

“Everything is going to be all right, Graham. She’s going to be all right,” Owen reassures me.

I let out a deep breath. “I really just can’t sit here any—”

“Graham, shut up,” Owen grabs my shoulder. “Someone is pulling in.”

My head whips back to the house, where a silver car pulls in, and what do you know? Out walks Flynn to meet them.

“Well, there you go. Tired of being still? There is our probable cause right there.” Owen pats my shoulder. “Let’s see what this car is doing then move in.”

Flynn talks to the person in the car for a few minutes; it looks like they hand him something, but we don’t know what. Finally, he goes back inside.

“You ready to move?” I ask Owen.

“Fuck yeah, come on.” We draw our weapons and head over to the house.
