“Same way,” I shrug. “Winry saw me with another girl and decided she wanted me for herself, so she sent her away.”

Winry hits my chest, “Graham, that is not what happened.”

“Okay, okay. So, Claire showed up at my house at the crack of dawn wanting to ‘see my place and talk.’ I had been up all night, so I was exhausted, and I was just trying to get her to leave,” I recall the day I met Winry.

“Oh, Claire. That girl sure is persistent, isn’t she?” Mare interrupts and rolls her eyes. I never formally introduced Claire to Jace and Mary, but they knew of her since it’s a small town and Claire was always very vocal about how we were “dating.”

“She was, but Winry pulled in and pretended to get stuff out of her car so she could eavesdrop on us.”

“I was not eavesdropping…” Winry cuts me off.

“If you weren’t, then how did you know my name was Graham, and how did you know I wanted her to leave?” I raise my eyebrows at her.

“Busted,” Jace’s and Mary’s heads fall back in laughter.

“Like I said, eavesdropping. So, she decided to act like her AC was broken and that I needed to come over and fix it. Don’t ask me how I understood what she was trying to do, but I finally pieced it together and headed over to her place until Claire left.”

“Oh, my word, that is awesome. Good thinking, Winry,” Mary leans forward, holding out her beer for a toast. “To winning over our men.”

They clink their drinks and laugh. We stay out by the fireplace for the next couple of hours. Mary tells Winry all the stupid things that Jace and I did. Including the time we got busted for rolling people’s houses with toilet paper. It took us the whole next week to clean them all up.

“I think we are going to turn in,” Jace says as he stands up, taking Mary with him, and she laughs.

“Us too,” Winry hops off my lap and pulls me up. Jace turns off the fire pit and we all head back inside.

“Oh, Winry,” Mary grabs her hand. “Graham said tomorrow is your birthday and that you love banana chocolate chip muffins. They may not be as good as your friend’s, but I found a recipe to make for breakfast.”

“That is so sweet, thank you,” Winry pulls her in for a hug.

“Good night, guys,” Jace calls over his shoulder, walking into their room.

“Good night,” we say together.

“That was nice, I really like them,” Winry says as we enter our room.

“I’m glad, buttercup. I liked seeing you with them.” I shut our door and turn at the perfect time to see Winry already naked. She has one of my t-shirts in her hand and starts to put it on. I rush over and take it away from her and toss it back in the bag.

“Hey, gimme that.” She looks so cute and sexy with nothing on. While I know she would look cute and sexy with just my shirt too, I’m going to save that for later.

“Not a chance, buttercup.” I toss her on the bed, and she giggles. “I love you and I’m not done showing you how much yet.”

I wake up with Winry’s naked body tangled in mine. Her lips are still plump from the millions of hard kisses, her hair is a mess from me pulling at it all night, and from this angle I can see a hickey on her right hip. I lie here just watching her breathing in and out. She looks so peaceful, and her cool skin feels amazing against mine.

I check the clock on the nightstand; it’s a little after nine. As much as I hate the thought of leaving, I untangle myself and throw on a t-shirt and a pair of shorts and sneak downstairs.

Unlike us, everyone else seems to be up and ready for their day. I follow the sweet smell of coffee and muffins to the kitchen. Sage is sitting at the kitchen table with her notebook and crayons.

“Morning, Sagie, what are you drawing?” I peer over her shoulder. It looks like a flower field; Sage is almost four, so it’s a bit of a mess but not too bad either.

Sage puts down her crayon and holds up her picture for me to see better. “Flowers, Mommy loves flowers. Does your friend like flowers too?”

“She does, her favorite are daisies.”

“I can draw those; I will draw her a picture.” Sage turns to a blank page and starts on a picture for Winry.

“She will love it, Sage. That is very sweet of you.” I ruffle her hair and turn in search of what I originally came down here for.

“Mare saved you two some muffins. Here, she hid them because she didn’t want the other guests to eat them all.” Jace walks over to a random cabinet and pulls out a plate of two big banana chocolate chip muffins. “Here are those, and coffee is in the pot over there.” Jace points and has this goofy smile on his face.
