“That’s a long time away,” she said.

“I want to make sure you’re doing well. You’ve been asleep for two days.”

Her mouth dropped open. “Two days.” So many thoughts were running through her head. “Oh, no, did I pee on the bed?”

Alex laughed. “We’ll get you up and see, but even if you did, it’s normal.”

“But the mattress will be ruined.”

He snorted. “I have a pad under you.”

She relaxed. “Okay, good.”

“Let me look at the boo-boo before we move you,” Alex said.

Her brows snapped together. “Doesn’t owie sound more mature?”

“Oh, well. I guess that depends on the person. I think both are fine.”

She thought about it for a moment. “Yeah. Okay. You can use either.”

He pulled the blanket down to the end of the bed and then lifted her short nightgown.

“Roll over on your side.”

She did and gasped. “I don’t have any panties on.”

Alex rolled his eyes. “Baby. Stop worrying. I’m a doctor, so I’ve seen a lot of bottoms.”

“But mine might be different,” she said.

“It’s not.”

The implication of what he said finally penetrated, she gasped, and her face flamed with a deep blush. “I can’t believe you said that.”

He cupped the side of her face. “You need to get used to me seeing your body. I’m not sure what’s going on with you or where you’re from, but we’ll need to deal with that after you’re all healed, which will take days. In that time, I’ll see you naked.”

“But naked … naked, Alex?”

He nodded. “Yes, Baby. I have you in one of my shirts, so you’re mostly covered. You’re lucky to get that.”

It took a long time to think it over, and she was glad he was patient with her and gave her the time she needed. “Okay.”

“Good girl.”

She tried to look at the injury. It wasn’t red anymore, but it had black lines on it. “What are those?” she asked and touched her spot.

“Those are stitches.”

She felt panic start to grow, and she just wanted to get them off. They looked obscene against her white skin, and the thought of a needle and thread entering her body made her nauseous. “I don’t like them. Take them off.”

He shook his head. “No. I’ll take them out when I know you’re healed.”

A tear rolled down her cheek. “But…”

“No buts.” He cupped her shoulder. “They’re helping you. How about we get you up and into the bathroom? You can have a shower later, but I want food in you first.”

“I do have to pee.”
