“Just Tony. I could ask one of the servants,” Raina said.
Alex shook his head. “Not yet.” He looked at Darian. “What are your thoughts?”
“Raina needs to give me the name of the cop helping her, and I’ll contact him.”
Alex nodded. One thing that stood out was that Raina loved her house, so he wouldn’t try to take it away from her or make her live elsewhere.
“Is there room for me in your house?” Alex asked.
He loved the shocked, then excited look on her face.
“You’d really live there with me?” she asked.
He cupped her cheek. “I’d live where you wanted to live. I don’t have any sentimental feelings for this house.”
Raina cried out and then hugged him tightly.
Darian lifted Larkin out of his lap and stood. “We’ll let you guys talk, but I’ll get in touch with you when I know something.”
“Thank you.”
“Always, my friend,” Darian said and walked out of the office.
“Is there someone there you can trust one hundred percent?” Alex asked.
“Yes, Myla. She’s a servant.”
“Can you call her without anyone knowing?” Alex asked.
“I don’t know.”
“I’ll do it. Once I get her on the phone, I’ll put you on.”
Raina nodded.
Alex got them comfortable behind his desk. “Give me the number.”
Someone answered immediately.
“Hello, Prescot household.”
Alex nodded at Raina.
“Sandy, it’s me, Raina.”
They heard a gasp and then sniffles. “Oh, my Lord. Everyone is looking for you, child.”
“I’m safe. I have people that will help us. Can you tell Alex and me what’s going on?”
“Yes. Let me go into the pantry. I don’t want anyone to hear us.”
“Good thinking,” Alex said.
“The first few days were tense. Your aunt was worried you’d bring the police here.”
“I want to, so badly. A friend is talking to them now to see what we can do.”
“You better hurry. Your aunt is having things carried out and put into a warehouse somewhere.”
