“You know Reagan. She hasn’t missed a beat.”
“Is she showing yet?”
“No, but I think her tits are bigger?”
“Jeez, I didn’t realize they could get bigger.”
He throws his napkin at me. “Stop looking at my wife’s rack.”
“It’s a pretty good rack.”
He smiles like he’s imagining them. “Yes, it is.”
I roll my eyes and he laughs. “Oh, and Skylar’s pregnant too. She’s due two weeks after Reagan. I think Reagan is happy to share this with her. Skylar can help her.”
“Fuck, Skylar is fertile. Glad I didn’t get mixed up with her.”
“Yeah, because that was your decision,” he says sarcastically.
I can’t help but chuckle at that. I did hit on Skylar all the time, years ago when she was single. She wanted no part of me though.
“What about you? Do you think you’ll ever get married and start a family?”
I shrug. “It’s not like I’m set against it. I just don’t know if I believe the right woman is out there. I’m picky. You know I have particular tastes. You’re lucky. You found a perfect woman. I won’t settle for less than perfect.” I smile. “I want the Dodge Tomahawk of women.”
“I get it. You’ll find your Dodge Tomahawk one day. I did. How’s work going?”
“It’s fine. We’re busy, so I guess that’s good. My family still thinks I’m a moron that needs to be coddled and watched, but I’m actually pretty good at what I do.”
“You’re the best. That’s why we use you.”
“Thank you. I’m honestly just bored of doing the same type of low-grade house over and over. Your house was the best project I’ve ever done because you asked for something different. Something I could dream up in my head. Something no one else has ever seen before.”
“Our house is spectacular. You did an amazing job. You’re very talented. Speaking of which, we want to add a little bump out to the room that will be the nursery. Can you squeeze us in?”
“Of course. I’ll take care of it right away. It might be nights and weekends since my days are jammed up. Is that okay?”
“Whatever you can swing. Thank you.”
We head out and ride back into the city. It was nice spending this time alone with him.
I mention that I may go out with my brother tonight. He said they’ll meet us out if Reagan is up for it.
CHAPTERFOUR
COLLIN
I’m going out with my youngest brother, Braden, tonight. He’s still single too. Mac and Shane are married with kids. Mac is the oldest, then me, then Shane, then Braden. Mac and Shane’s wives constantly try to fix us up with their friends, but that’s not happening for me. Braden is much sweeter than me, so sometimes he accepts, but I never do. I have certain tastes and those uptight women won’t be into them. I like wild women with no inhibitions.
I dress in dark blue jeans and a blue sweater. I brush my still wet from the shower hair, which admittedly has gotten a little long, curling at the nape of my neck, and nearly reaching my eyes in the front if I don’t wear a hat or brush it.
I think this look is back in style though, so I’m in no rush to deal with it. My friends and family make fun of me for it every chance they get, but I like it and I’m not changing it anytime soon.
I’m also not as clean-shaven as I used to be. I like the scruffy look. Women definitely like the scruff, especially when my face is buried between their legs.
I text Braden that I’m on my way and will arrive at the bar, Hole in the Wall, in about ten minutes. He responds that he’s arriving now and will scout the talent, meaning he’ll look for hot women.
Hole in the Wall is a traditional Irish pub, but its authenticity draws a lot of people and it’s become a bit of a hangout for the over-thirty crowd. We’ve been going there for years. Clubs now are inundated with people in their early twenties. Before Carter met Reagan, we used to hit the clubs every weekend. I’m thirty-eight now. I’m over that scene. Braden is only thirty, but he prefers to hang out with me rather than with some of his friends closer to his age.
