As soon as I start making my way back down the park path, I look back to see Hendrix and Ryder join Lexie on the swings, surrounding her with fun and safety.
It gives me the strength I need to keep going, heading back to the pizza place.
Chapter Ten
Moira
––––––––
IPAUSE OUTSIDE THEpizza place, taking a moment to center myself and get a tight grip on my scent so I don't let anything slip while dealing with them.
This is the last thing I thought I'd ever have to do, especially so soon, but I prepared for it just in case.
With control over myself and my scent, as calm as I can possibly be, I push inside, the aroma of pizza now making my stomach churn. If they've ruined pizza for me, I'm going to kill them.
The hostess gives me a baffled, but polite smile. "Was there something wrong with your order?"
"No. I came back to see if some old friends were still here. Two alphas, one male, one female. Not from here." I try to keep things vague, not wanting her to know I'm here for a confrontation with them.
I have no plans on making a scene, though I'm sure they'll be happy to.
Demanding and entitled assholes.
Her face morphs into a regretful smile. “I think I know who you meant, but they left a few minutes ago."
Shit.
"Do you happen to know where they were headed?" I ask, knowing it’s a long shot.
She shakes her head. “I’m sorry, I don't. I heard them say something about art."
I know exactly where they're going.
"Thank you. You've been a great help."
"Good luck."
