Olivia elbows him. “Don’t be a stick in the mud, Johnny Law. Maybe I want to hear about how Miller sucks.”
Peace’s nostrils flare. “No.”
Olivia bats her eyelashes. “No what?”
“You know what, troublemaker.”
“If I’m a troublemaker, I have to get into trouble once in a while to maintain my status.”
“I’ll show you trouble.”
I giggle. “This is awesome.”
Clementine pats my hand. “You’re welcome to join us anytime, dear.”
I pretend I don’t hear her. I am not going to think about spending every week having family dinner night with the man I’m falling for. Nope. And no more of that ‘falling for’ shit either.
Miller loads food on my plate until it’s piled up high. “What are you doing, big guy? I can’t eat that much.”
“Eat. I know you skipped lunch today.”
I frown. “How do you know?”
He tweaks my nose. “I know.”
Moon sighs. “They’re adorable together. The hippie plant-lover and the grumpy brewer.”
“We’re adorable together,” Riley insists.
“I didn’t say we weren’t.”
Brody stands. “I’m feeling warm. Is anyone else warm?” He fans his face.
“What’s wrong, bro? Are you having your first hot flash?” Riley chuckles.
“I’m just going to turn on the fan to cool the room down.”
“No!” Riley jumps to his feet but he isn’t quick enough to stop his twin. Brody switches on the fan and glitter rains down.
“Happy birthday!”
I’m confused. “Whose birthday is it?”
Miller grunts.
“It’s your birthday? Why didn’t you tell me? I didn’t buy you a present.”
“I don’t want your presents. I want you.”
“Ah,” Elder coos. “Grumpy boy can be sweet.”
I point at him. “Be nice or I’ll tell everyone who you’ve been hanging out with.”
“We’re only friends.”
“Because someone has been friend-zoned,” Riley teases.
Moon stands and stomps to Brody. “Where did you get the glitter?”
