“You can’t always get what you want.”

“When it comes to you, I intend to do everything I can to get what I want.”

My stomach clenches at his words. And not in the good way. More in the let’s get out of here and go hide in a cave way. I yank my hand from his and back away. “Our relationship is going at warp speed. It’s too fast.”

“Not to me. I know what I want.” He reaches for me, but I bat him away.

“Which is?”

“You, flower girl.” He stalks toward me and I’m forced to hold my ground or endure his family eavesdropping on our conversation. “I want you in my bed at night. I want to wake up with you every morning.”

I’m starting to sweat. Is boob sweat an excuse to skip a family dinner? “Every morning? What’s faster than warp speed?”

He palms my neck and bends over to lay his forehead on mine. “I’ll try to slow down, but you can’t deny you want the same thing.”

I glare at him. How dare he know I want him as much as he wants me? I don’t walk around with cartoon hearts in my eyes. I’m being realistic. You’re falling in love with him is what you’re doing.I hate my inner voice. She’s always telling me stuff I’m not ready to hear. It’s beyond annoying.

“Dinner’s served,” Peace shouts from the porch of his parent’s house.

Miller grabs my hand and leads me toward the house. “Come on. I’m hungry.”

“You ate a protein bar before we left the house.”

“That was at least fifteen minutes ago.”

It’s a stampede as everyone jostles into the house and fights for a spot around the dining room table. I’m out of breath when I collapse in a chair next to Miller.

“Is it always like this?”

Clementine smiles. “Yes, ever since the Bragg brothers joined our family dinner nights.” She sounds happy about being invaded by the Bragg family.

“The lot of them are heathens,” Peace complains.

“Hush,” Olivia says. “You love your brothers.”

“Half-brothers,” Peace corrects and Clementine slaps him upside the head.

Eagle enters the room carrying a large platter with a roast on it.

“I can’t believe you,” Moon grumbles.

Eagle’s eyes twinkle. “What?”

“You knew I was planning to make a roast for the next family gathering at my house.”

“Awesome!” Elder rubs his hands together. “We’ll have another tasting contest.”

“Do you think Miller and Eden will bicker as much at the next one as they did at the previous one?” Brody asks.

“Yes,” Riley answers and Miller glares at him. “What? In your case, bickering is another form of foreplay.” He frowns. “Unless you don’t do foreplay. Not okay.”

“He excels at foreplay,” I say and Miller switches his glare to me. “Do you want me to say you suck at foreplay? I mean, I can. But it’d be a lie.”

“I don’t suck at foreplay,” he grumbles.

“Does he not suck at all?” Moon asks. “Sucking is important.”

Peace groans. “I don’t want to hear about my brother sucking anything.”
