She stopped me by waving a finger, "It's okay. As long as he doesn't break your heart."
"Sounded like he was breaking your bed instead," Amber murmured.
"Do you do vocal practice in your spare time?" Ruby asked.
"Stooooop!" I covered my ears as I ran upstairs, shutting my bedroom door behind me.
I turned and saw Adam inspecting one of my teddy bears.
"You know… I think I have a new fetish now. Having sex in a room like this," he said.
"Idiot!" I tossed the towel at his face, "You're bathing alone!"
I walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind me.
"Crystal, I was joking!" He said as he knocked on the door.
I rolled my eyes and started the bath.
It was…nice.
Chapter nineteen
The Sky Doesn't Remain Blue Forever
Adam
Have you ever walked on air before?
Me neither, but I swore it was like walking on air.
I know I'm not making any sense, but that's how that morning felt.
I wanted to stay with Crystal for the rest of my days off, but duty called.
She promised to come back early though, and that was the only way she was able to get me to leave.
"I'm really glad to see you again, Dr. Hunt," Mariam said as she shook my hand.
"You as well," I smiled.
"Next time try to not make my big sis moan so loud," Ruby advised.
"I'll try my best, but she seems to enjoy screaming," I sighed.
Crystal smacked my head, "What the hell are you telling her that for?!"
"Sorry, sorry," I apologized as I rubbed the spot she had hit.
"You two make a perfect couple," Hannah said as she hugged me. But she held me in place and whispered, "Don't you dare mess this up, Adam."
"I know I won't. You can count on me," I said with confidence.
"That's what I'm afraid of. Counting on you, that is," she said as she let me go.
"Don't forget my gifts," Amber said as she crossed her arms.
"I won't. I'll be sure to bring you something the next time I visit," I said.
