“What did you do?” Catherine asked.

“I didn’t do anything,” I replied with a straight face as I walked past her and headed to my office.

She followed closely behind me, “You didn’t do anything, and yet she seemed scared, and her cheeks were red. She’s an independent doctor but she’s technically staff now. If you did anything, it would bite you in the ass.”

Scared?

“I noticed the scared part, but trust me, I didn’t do anything,” I lied.

I didn’t want to lie but if the new doctor didn’t say anything, was there any need for me to say something?

Even I knew I had gone too far. I made it part of my personal rules not to involve my staff in my playboy activities.

As long as it wasn’t a member of the team, then there wasn’t a problem.

But now, it seemed like I needed to finally break that rule.

The weakness in her eyes, her soft lips, her small ears, and soft cheek. Not to forget those piercing blue eyes that looked hotter when she was angry. All of it seemed like a waste to let her get away for free.

Along with Catherine, I looked for the new doctor at her usual desk, but she wasn’t there. The other nurses said she hadn’t returned to her desk yet.

I returned to my office and Amanda was still there.

“That was fast,” Amanda said with a smile.

“I’ll be going back to my post,” Catherine said as she left without waiting for me to respond. She stopped in her tracks and walked up close to me and whispered in my ear, “No, really; don’t involve yourself with the new staff.”

“I know, mother,” I replied.

Normally, I would have loved to pin Amanda down and continue from where we had stopped earlier but…

“I’m sorry, Amanda, but I lost the patient so I’m in a bit of a sour mood,” I said.

“Oh, so sorry about that,” she said with an apologetic look, “Is there anything I can do to help.”

“For now? No,” I replied as I took my seat, “I just want to be left alone.”

“I understand,” she said with a smile.

She leaned over the table and kissed me but…

I didn’t feel anything. The new doctor had stolen my lust… she had to pay.

Help Me Forget

Adam

She was haunting me and avoiding me at the same time.

Two days had passed, and I had still been unable to get her out of my mind. I didn’t even ask for her name.

I wanted her to tell me herself; but she evaded, ignored, or straight stared me down.

I couldn’t understand why this was so difficult.
