“Thank you for lending a listening ear,” I said as I forced out every ounce of anger in me, “Don’t even think something like this will happen again.”

I left and closed the door behind me.

I touched my lips.

My heart had not stopped racing and I was still breathing hard.

I could still feel his lips on mine...how good he made me feel.

It was strange…why was I getting worked up?!

“Are you okay?” Catherine asked.

I stared at her blankly.

“You seem red, fever?” she asked.

“What? Red? Me?” I asked as I touched my face.

Adam opened the door and stepped out. He wore a grin like he had accomplished something.

We exchanged glances, and the grin reduced to a simple smile.

What’s with that look?

Are you satisfied that you’ve gotten a new plaything?

I was pissed and embarrassed at the same time. Of all the people to see me in a weakened state, it had to be a player like him.

And what’s worse was the fact that I had let him kiss me.

That’s not all; he wore a grin like nothing had happened.

It was a mistake…a big foolish mistake.

“Doctor, I…” he started to say as he stretched his hand towards me.

A flash memory of his hand on my cheek and ears was enough to rattle me and made me take a step backwards.

The smile disappeared and his expression changed to concern or sympathy.

He wasn’t fooling me.

“Did something happen?” Catherine asked.

“No… I…” I exchanged glances from her to Adam.

Adam raised a brow in question.

So that was his angle, to play dumb.

“It’s nothing, excuse me,” I said as I walked past her.

I retreated to the restroom and started washing my face... an attempt I hoped would help wash away theses strange feelings and make them disappear.

But they didn’t… they refused to.

“What have you done to me?” I asked in a mix of confusion and anger.
