I swallowed hard and continued my work, but I couldn't focus.
The stern blue eyes kept haunting me.
She was truly wonderful, unlike any other woman I'd ever been with.
I called Catherine.
"You called, your doctorness," she said as she entered.
"How long has Dr. Richards been here, before the operation?" I asked.
"Almost two weeks," she replied.
"And I didn't know?" I raised a brow.
"Technically you knew," she replied, "Harold gave the recommendation and you okayed it. Maybe you weren't aware of the name."
Now it made a little sense. I did recall Harold talking about someone named Richards.
"How has her performance been so far?" I asked.
"Outstanding to be honest," she replied cheerfully, "She's been doing more than what is expected of an independent doctor. She helps out other departments, especially gynecology and the pediatricians. She’s assisted in most of the minor surgeries and she’s led one, all of which were successful. The only bad record would be the accident."
She’s amazing.
I looked away, "Is she married? Any form of relationship?"
"Sir, I thought you don't involve staff in your affairs?" she asked.
"Just humor me for a bit and answer the question," I said.
She was quiet and locked eyes with me.
She gave up with a sigh, "She's single and doesn't seem to have anyone in mind. Maybe...Harold?"
Harold?
What did he have that I didn't have?
"Is that all, sir?" she asked.
"Yeah, but before you leave, how is your wife?" I asked.
"She's okay; we're trying to get used to not seeing each other at the office often," she answered, "And we're not yet married, sir."
"Well, time waits for no one," I said as I took off the scrubs and changed into a t-shirt and jeans, "You better propose sooner or later."
"Thanks for the advice. But where are you headed?" she asked.
"I'm going back home. I'm not in the mood to work anymore," I replied, "Can you handle things for me?"
"Yeah."
"Thank you."
I left the office with my car keys in hand.
I noticed Crystal. She was helping a woman in a wheelchair move. The woman seemed to enjoy her company.
