"Hey, what's going on?" she asks.

"Daddy is trying to catch us," Roselyn says.

"We jumped on his back," Daisy adds.

"Did it hurt?" She asks me.

"No, no, it didn't, not at all," I reply sarcastically.

"Girls, take it easy on your father," she warns them.

"Okay!" they chorus.

She walks over to me and kisses me on the cheeks, then starts stroking my hair, "There, there, you big baby. Did you get to sleep?"

"No," I fake sob.

"Sorry, Daddy," Daisy apologizes.

"We didn't mean to," Roselyn says.

To make me feel better, I lay my head on Crystal's thighs as we watch our kids play chess.

"Aren't they a little too young for this?" I ask.

"You're the one who taught them," she replies.

"Yeah, but they're good...too good," I remind her as Roselyn gives her sister a check.

"You know, when their father is the literal genius Adam Hunt, it's only natural they inherit his genes," she says, "coupled with mine as well."

The two of them turn to me and blow a kiss.

I can't help smiling warmly.

"What are you grinning for?" Crystal asked as she tugs on my ear playfully.

"Ow…you know, I’ve saved so many lives that people say I'll die a terrible death for denying the Grim Reaper souls."

"You heard that myth too?" she asks.

"Yeah. What if he decides to cut my life short through an illness or something?” I ask.

"You married a doctor, Adam," she reminds me, "It'll be my turn to pluck you out of his grip."

"I look forward to it then," I snuggle up against her as I slowly drift off to sleep.

It's Never Too Late

Hannah

"Bye, Aunty Hannah!" my nieces wave to me over the phone.

"Bye, my little angels. Torment your dad a little for me," I say.

"I heard that!" Adam yells, causing me and the girls to giggle.

"Goodnight, Aunty," Crystal says.
