"Goodnight, my love," I reply then lower my voice into a whisper, "When are you going to tell him you're pregnant?"
"I want him to find out on his own," she whispers back.
"Mischievous little girl," I smirk.
"Hehe," she giggles and waves me goodbye before hanging up.
I let out a deep breath and the smile remains on my face.
"Okay, back to it," I sigh as I focus on my work.
I don't think Crystal and Adam ever mentioned this, but I do have a job.
I work as an architect, basically building designs and all that.
My position is something like Crystal's. I'm independent and a freelancer.
But I do frequent a certain home design company. I'm skilled at interior design, so I help them draw designs for houses too difficult to handle.
I'm not Adam, but I'm referred to as a genius in the field.
It would be nice if I had something like what Adam and Crystal have.
I'm not going to lie. I'm a little jealous. But as a fort—ahem, thirty-nine-year-old woman, there are no chances at love for me anymore.
Maybe if I hadn’t fooled around years ago, I'd have my own man by now.
"You're working hard again," he says as he sets a cup of coffee in front of me.
"Thank you, Alex," I reply.
Alex King, thirty-one years old and owner of King Designs. He was a client of mine a few years ago, and now I work part-time with him.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, muscular body, and a voice that makes you want to spread your legs.
He's gorgeous.
He’s way out of the league of a woman past her prime.
"Goodbye, Alex," Selina says, one of his staff members. Twenty-something years old, sexy.
That's his league.
It hurts that I just have to look on.
Not good…
I focus on my work.
"Looks like it's just the two of us," he says.
"Try to keep up," I tell him.
"I own the place, you know," he mumbles.
I actually like him. Kind, soft-spoken, constant learner. He makes my heart skip a beat.
He also makes me fantasize that he stares at me while I work.
