He was soft and squishy looking. His eyes opened but I knew he couldn’t see me clearly. He yawned and closed his eyes.

He was definitely Thomas’s kid.

“A baby, huh?” I said with a smile.

What if Crystal and I were to have one of our own? Would she be okay with it?

Maybe…maybe it was time I told her how I really felt.

Heh, I never thought I’d hear myself say that.

I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I stared at the two red marks on the strips.

I screamed.

“What?! What happened?!” My sister yelled as she forcefully opened the door.

I looked at her with panic written all over my face as I tried to hide the strip behind my back, but she caught my hand and grabbed the test.

“You’re pregnant?!” She yelled but didn’t take her eyes off the strip.

“Oh my God, I’m pregnant,” I couldn’t believe the words that came out of my mouth.

“You’re straight?” she asked.

“Huh? Of course, I am! What are you even on about?!”

“Why are you yelling at me? You’re the one who was testing the waters with that girl.”

“It was only for a week, and it has been a year now,” I stated, “Oh my goodness, this can’t be happening.”

“Do you have any idea who the father is?” she asked, “Or did you get any funny ideas when handling sperm samples?”

“What kind of person do you take me for?” I frowned as I tossed the toilet paper at her face, but she dodged it easily.

“I take it you know then,” she said as she returned the strip, “Will he take responsibility?”

Adam was a womanizer; he had probably dealt with things like this before. If I told him about this, he would tell me to handle it on my own.

Was I actually ready to handle the responsibilities of motherhood?

I thought that maybe I should just go ahead and get rid of it.

“Crystal?” Ruby disrupted my thoughts.

I looked at her, and her eyes were filled with genuine worry, “Are you okay, big sis?”

“I… I don’t know,” I rubbed my hands together, “I’m supposed to be panicking, right? I mean… I am…but…”

“Will he take responsibility?” she repeated.

“I don’t think so,” I replied.

“So, what are you going to do now?” she asked, “Solo?”
