I had been in the medical field for too long. I knew a case that was bound to fail, and this was one of them.

But still…even still…I couldn’t let it end in an unhappily ever after.

“Celine, you have to win for both our sakes,” I said.

“Shut up and let me concentrate, Adam!!!” she screamed at me.

“Yeesh, you’d think one would be happy that I was supporting them,” I said as I rolled my eyes.

“Shut up, shut up, shut up!” she yelled as she pushed even harder.

I could see the baby’s crown.

I couldn’t believe my eyes, “You’re doing it.”

But what if the baby got stuck halfway?

“Celine, take a breather,” I said.

“Don’t…”

“Huh?”

“Don’t tell me to stop now,” she said as she gave one final push.

I held the baby and lifted him out, “You bitch, you did it. You really did it!”

The baby stirred and started to cry.

“Told you…” she said weakly as she managed to chuckle.

“It’s a boy,” I said and handed him over to her.

“Oh my God, I actually did it,” she said as she undressed her top and had some skin to skin contact with her child. Her eyes glistened and tears flowed, “I’m a mother.”

My vision was getting blurry.

“Oh, the great Adam Hunt is crying for me,” she laughed.

“I’m not,” I said as I wiped my tears. “I’m not at all.”

“Sure you’re not,” she said as she focused on her child, “I did the impossible, didn’t I?”

“You did,” I admitted, “It’s impossible. I thought at least one of you would have…”

I stopped speaking and she smiled at me.

“What now, Dr. Hunt?” she asked.

“I…” I shook my head negatively and reached for her baby, “Now, we have to have the nurses check his vitals.”

She was reluctant and held him a moment longer.

“Isn’t there something you can do that has been impossible for Adam Hunt all this time?” she asked.

I swallowed and thought about a certain blue-eyed girl that had turned my world upside down, “Yeah, there is.”

“Do the impossible then,” she said before handing her baby over.
