This was bliss.
I knew I didn't want to get married, nor did I have any time for love or the likes.
But whenever I got depressed about it, or felt alone and overwhelmed, this was my release.
I couldn't help thinking that I was getting a little too old for the playboy lifestyle.

"There's a children's hospital?" I was surprised.
"Yeah, most of the pediatricians here are volunteers from there," Sarah explained.
"That's really amazing to hear," I admitted.
"You love kids too?" Rose asked.
She was an older lady who was here for her slipped disc problem. She was finished with her appointment and I was helping her get ready to leave while her son signed some paperwork at the receptionist stand.
Sarah was in charge of her case, so I decided to help out.
What raised the children’s hospital topic was the fact that I had said I wouldn't mind watching over kids during my breaks.
I really had nothing else to do.
"The kids are always looking for new playmates, so I think you'll do fine," Sarah said as she nudged me.
I wasn't that busy and didn't mind volunteering. Kids had a sort of relaxing effect on me, so playing with them might be the sort of distraction I needed.
"I'm done," John said.
He was Rose's son, late twenties and a good guy.
He was very funny too.
"Thank you so much for your advice," he said to me with a low bow.
"Don't mention it. I'm sure your girlfriend will love the gift," I said.
He had asked me for some relationship advice earlier, and I had laughed at the fact he thought that I was in a relationship too.
"Still, it really is hard for me to believe you aren't dating or even married," Rose said, "And you're such a kind, beautiful girl too."
"Thank you, Rose. But maybe I'm just not ready yet," I sighed.
"Or maybe you are but you haven't met someone who'd make your heart skip a beat," John said as he held his mother's wheelchair and started to push. "Do you know if there's anyone like that?"
Just then, Adam's face appeared in my thoughts, but I shook it off immediately.
"No, there's no one like that," I said.
"Well, just keep your heart open and toasty. You wouldn't want to be too cold when the right person comes," Rose said.
"Thank you, Rose," I replied with a smile.
