He tangles our fingers and pulls me from the closet. “The sooner we get this over with, the sooner I can hold you down and fuck my husband until he’s screaming like a banshee. Then I’m going to watch my cum drip from his sexy little hole.”

My entire body heats. The only reason my dick isn’t as hard as it would normally be is because I hear the voices again. We’re nearing them. Closer. I see a shadow move in front of the door. Rake doesn’t stop, slow, or hesitate this time. We stride in and the dining room falls silent.

“What took you so long?” the woman I assume to be his mother asks.

A girl breaks free and runs for him. Rake lets me go and steps away to catch her in his arms. He hugs her tightly. “Asshole brother,” she mutters. “You never return my calls anymore.”

The room has fallen silent and the sister’s eyes lock on me. I smile, trying not to fidget while I stand there with all eyes on me, and I stare at the back of Rake’s head.

Rake puts his sister down. He kisses her forehead and moves back to me. I release a breath as he stands at my back, wrapping his arms around me so one of his hands rests over my heart, the other around my waist. He kisses the back of my head and whispers, “Take a breath, husband.”

I grin despite myself. With my hands on his legs behind me, I take in the faces staring at me.

“This is my mother, Laska. My father, Prayan. Sister and brother, Jiya and Eshaan. And you know my uncle.”

My eyes follow his introductions around the room and my mouth falls open when they land on his uncle. “Coach Adak?” I ask, incredulous.

“Hello, Egon. I see you two are getting along.”

I blink dumbly and twist in Rake’s hold.

“I never said Adak is my uncle?” he asks, brow raised.

“You left that out.”

He chuckles and kisses my nose. “Sorry. I promise it wasn’t intentional.”

With a huff, I turn back around but settle again when everyone’s eyes are still trained on me. I bring my hand up to cover his as my heart begins to race again.

His mother gets up from the table to stand in front of me, her eyes on my hand. Our hands.

“This is Egon,” Rake says quietly.

“You did not marry him,” she says and my stomach drops. I can’t swallow the bile in my throat as I stare at this woman a foot in front of me, angrily looking at Rake.

“I did, Mama,” Rake says. “And brought him home for Christmas.”

Her eyes narrow. My grip on Rake tightens as I press harder into his chest. I’m not shaking. I won’t tremble in front of this woman. Fuck, I can’t breathe!

She presses her lips together before turning her attention to me, and her expression changes entirely. She smiles and gently pats my cheek. “Welcome to the family, Egon. Let’s eat before it gets cold.”

I watch, completely still, as she turns and walks back to the table.

Rake kisses the back of my head, and I hear him chuckle. “Breathe, baby.” I release a breath and let him lead me to the table. Another place setting was just put down by a man who disappeared out a door.

I’m sitting across from Adak. He smiles at me and I give him one in return. But then my eyes scan the food and my brows knit together. “Rake?” I whisper.

He turns to me.

“I don’t recognize a single dish on this table,” I murmur.

Rake chuckles. “I’ll feed you. I know what you like.”

It takes a lot not to hear an innuendo in that. I watch as he adds scoops of what smells amazing if not immediately identifiable on my plate. But one dish he gives himself some and skips mine.

“I don’t get that one?”

He looks at me. “You’re not going to like it.”
