He knew he had to gain control until the morning when he could run until he hurt, and then he’d talk with his friends about what to do, so he tried to put it out of his mind for the time being. He had to do that when he was in the military, so he knew he could. This time just felt so much more personal than any other time.
After his shower, he pulled on sweatpants and a t-shirt because he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable and walked out into the living room. She looked so fucking sweet and tiny. He now knew how strong she was, too. How she survived her time with that monster for four years, he’d never understand.
“Hey, what did you find?” he asked as he walked over and sat beside her.
He couldn’t help grinning when he saw a mischievous smile on her face. “What did you do?” he asked.
She giggled. “I pickedJason Bournewith Matt Damon.”
“Why did you pick that?” he asked.
“Because I think he’s hot.”
He threw back his head and laughed. When he gained control, he tried to scowl. “You’re not supposed to think other men are attractive, Little Sub.”
“I’m sorry.”
He watched her try to control her grin. “No, you’re not.”
She laughed.
He settled back against the sofa, pulled her down beside him, put his feet on the table, and started the movie.
They watched the movie, and both enjoyed it so much that they decided to watch the second one in the series.
By the middle of the second one, Cat started to fall asleep against him. “How about we finish this tomorrow?”
She nodded and then yawned. “Do you have a blanket and pillow for me?”
He shook his head. “No. You’ll be in bed with me. We’ll put a pillow between us if that makes you feel better, but you know there’s nothing I’d do to make you uncomfortable. I’ll keep the sweatpants and t-shirt on, too.”
He watched her think it over before she nodded.
“Good girl. Do you need to use the bathroom?”
She shook her head.
“Then get into bed, and I’ll be right there.”
“Okay.”
He helped her off the sofa and watched her walk into the bedroom. His first thought as he studied her was that this would be the first of many nights.
When he walked into the bedroom, the overhead light was off. She’d turned the light on that sat on his nightstand, so he was able to see her well. He brushed his teeth, slipped into bed, turned off the light, and faced her. She had her hands tucked under her chin as she lay facing him.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
She nodded.
“Do you want the pillow between us, Baby?”
She nibbled on her bottom lip before she shook her head. “No, I think it’s okay.”
“If at any time you get uncomfortable, tell me right away.”
“I’ll try.”
He set his hand on her hip. “You need to do better than try. I can’t fix anything if I don’t know what it is.”
