Page 8 of Brake's Intent

When he breaks away, he doesn’t let go of either side of my face. Instead, he leans in and presses his forehead to my own and releases a ragged breath.

“Fuck,” he repeats.

“I take it you enjoyed that?” I murmur softly.

“What do you think?”

“I think we both needed that.”

Brake pulls away and shakes his head. “What do we do now?”

“You mean with us? With Faye?”

“Fuckin’ everything,” he answers. “I’ll admit you’re right. We do this, but it has to be with Faye.”

“I agree.” I nod. “But remember, it’s more than just about Faye, it’s about all of us.”

“I know that,” he grumbles, narrowing his gaze. “I’m not stupid.”

“I never said you were,” I snap.

Brake twists, grabs his soap, and starts washing his body. “This is going to take some getting used to, but I want it. I intend to make it happen, however, you’re gonna have to be patient with me. You know I’m hotheaded and stubborn.”

“Ain’t that the damn truth.” I smirk.

“Kiss my ass.”

“Bend over and let me see it.”

“Grow up,” Brake snorts, shaking his head, and handing me the soap. I take it and wash my own body as we fall into silence, but it’s not uncomfortable.

Finishing in the shower, Brake shuts the water off and shoves the curtain to the side. He steps out first and grabs two towels before handing me one of them.

“We’re gonna have to find out what the hell Faye went through,” he states, wrapping the towel around his waist, concealing the still-hard cock behind the fabric.

“Also gonna have to talk to Finn and Faye’s brother,” I remind him.

“Shit.”

My thoughts exactly. Talking to them means they’ll want to take Faye home with them, but we’re not about to lose her. Not this time around.

Fuck that.

I’ve got both Faye and Jax back and I’m not about to lose either of them.

CHAPTERSIX

BRAKE

Feeling fingers brushing through the scruff on my face pulls me out of my doze. It feels like I haven’t slept in weeks rather than days, and all I want to do is sleep like the dead now that I have Faye back.

After the shower with Lawson yesterday, we’d dressed, and I put on a pair of basketball shorts that hung low on my waist. The ones I gave Lawson hung even lower on him. Together, we’d gotten in bed and wrapped ourselves around Faye. We were back to the way it should be.

It’s taking a lot to not think about the future and what’s to come. But I know I’ll have no choice here soon. I just want time to stop and life to not exist outside this room.

Slowly, I open my eyes enough to peek through my lashes to see Faye awake and toying with my goatee and scruff I’ve yet to shave.

“You okay?” I ask, raspy. Clearing my throat, I meet Faye’s gaze and cup the side of her face, stroking her cheek with my thumb.
