There’s a reason why Reed’s my right hand, and that’s because he’s my foster brother and has been there for me ever since that fateful day.
Slowly, I do as he says, and the hands holding me in place finally pull away from me.
“Someone remind me not to fuck with Law here. Fucker killed the bastard with his bare hands.”
Pitch Black’s gravelly voice breaks through.
“Yeah,” Breaker chuckles, “I don’t want to be on the wrong side of that fist.”
“Shut up,” I growl, looking down at my busted-up knuckles. “Fuck, Faye’s gonna kill me.”
“It’s not Faye I’d be worrying about.” My gaze snaps to the doors at the sound of Brake’s voice, and I narrow my eyes as I see him stepping forward, a dark look on his face.
“What the hell are you doing out here?” Tyres asks before I do.
Brake glances at his twin briefly and turns his attention back to me. “What does Reed mean?”
“We’ll talk about it later,” I grumble, not wanting to get into it with him about the past right now. “You need to get your ass back up to the clubhouse.”
“No, I need this shit dealt with,” he remarks, motioning to the two men. “You all don’t know what you’ve done.”
“Why don’t you explain?” I ask, but I saw the file Reed brought to me about Brake’s parents.
“With the interruption and killing Charlotte, we’ve bought a whole new set of trouble,” he says far too calmly.
“What trouble?” Chains demands and holds up the file. “And don’t lie. We know whatever it is has to deal with our fucked-up family. And who the fuck is Charlotte?”
I watch as Brake visibly pales, eyes on the file as he answers. “Charlotte’s, Tyres and my older sister.”
CHAPTERNINETEEN
BRAKE
Explaining this shit is the last thing I want to do. Telling my brothers, especially Tyres, about Charlotte is something I never wanted to do.
My entire body hurts, and I don’t want to even think about how they got that file. I know how, and he and I will have words later. Much later, when we’re alone and no one is around to interfere in our conversation. That and Faye will be there for it as well.
Shit, just thinking about my woman pulls on my heartstrings. I pissed her off when I got off the bed. She nearly flipped her lid I was leaving the room. They’d already popped my shoulders back in place and everything right now hurt like a bitch. Hell, I agree with her that I should still be in bed, but there’s no fucking way I was missing this shit. Not a fucking chance in hell. But I couldn’t stay in that room and not do something about this fucked up situation.
My brothers don’t know what’s going on and what will now come at us tenfold. Everything I’ve done since Victoria had her son will have been for nothing. None of them know the true depths of evil that runs through our bloodline. If they did, they’d flip their shit. So, I’ve made sure to hide it from them all to keep them safe.
However, now, with Charlotte dead, we’re all fucked.
“What do you mean she’s our older sister?” Tyres demands. “We don’t have a sister.”
“Charlotte was our sister.”
“That can’t be true. Your mom never told me about her,” Ryder announces. “Both those bitches were thrilled to announce they were pregnant at the same time when they found out.”
“Oh, it’s true, all right. The stupid bitch got knocked up by her uncle on y’all’s mom’s side.”
“Come again,” Ryder grinds out.
“He’s telling the truth.” Benoit cackles. “And now that you’ve killed his little girl and stopped our yearly playtime, he’ll be coming.”
“That old bastard can’t do shit.” Ryder spits.
“That’s what you think.” Benoit smirks, his eyes coming to me. “Go ahead and tell them. You’re all fucked.”
