Watching my Grandfatherdance with her turned my stomach. It was in the way he looked at her. His eyes sparkled as if she was a piece of meat. I wanted to step in. The only people that should have been that close to her were my brothers and me. That was it. I didn’t trust my grandfather. Never did.
He twirled her around. She was pale and looked scared. Fuck. He said something vile to her. That man was a snake. I walked toward them.
“What a lovely party.” Miss Baker stepped in my path.
“Thank you.” I stepped out of the way.
“You boys are always great at throwing parties.” She stepped back in my way and put her hand on my chest. Miss Baker was widowed years ago and rumor had it she was looking for someone to marry.
“Thank you. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” I grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her to the side.
Kira was gone. My grandfather had turned to someone else and was chatting it up with them. I looked around for her and didn’t see her anywhere. Derek came over to me with a smile on his face. How was he always so happy?
“Have you seen Kira?” Derek asked. “I wanted to stick my hands in her pockets.”
“No. Check the bathroom.” I slapped him on the back. Once he was done I would get my chance to play with her, again. My dick grew from the thought of it.
My Grandfather was still talking to someone when I reached him. I interrupted the conversation and pulled him to the side. “What did you say to Kira?”
“Lovely girl. I can see why you three want her.” He took a sip of his drink.
“She looked upset. What did you say to her?” I clenched my fists.
“Would you relax? I didn’t say anything to her. Maybe she wasn’t feeling well.” He patted my shoulder. “You could take a page from Derek’s book. Even Jason isn’t so uptight.”
A table crashed. I turned. Vickie was standing by the now fallen dessert table holding her throat. Her face was a beat red. She started slapping her chest.
“Help!” Miss Baker screamed. She was slapping Vickie’s back.
Everyone ran over to her. Vickie fell to the ground. Miguel was on her, blocking my view. Others tried to push him aside, but he wouldn’t budge.
The air was wrong. My stomach was heavy. Something was off. Where was Kira? There was no way her friend was lying on the ground choking and she wasn’t there. It wasn’t in her nature to not help someone she loved. Hell, we had used her love for Vickie against her.
Pat was standing above Vickie crying and begging someone to help. I stomped over to him and grabbed him by the arm. He protested at first, until he saw it was me. Dragging him to my office, I didn’t say a word.
“Boss, are you okay?” he asked the second the door shut.
“Without alerting anyone, you are going to find Kira!” I ground my teeth.
“Huh? She was at the party. I can go get her.” Pat pointed to the door.
“Something is up. Once Vickie stops with her pretend choking act you are to get her alone and find out where Kira is.” My Grandfather had to have scared her. Maybe he told her to leave. Maybe he threatened her with something. Either way this was the quickest way to get information. Vickie would be more inclined to tell Pat than me.
Pat nodded and speed walked out of the office. While he was gone I paced. I wanted to believe Kira didn’t take off. Maybe she had just gotten sick and went to her room. Maybe she had too much caviar and was in the bathroom getting sick. I didn’t believe those things. My gut told me something happened with my Grandfather,
It didn’t take long before Pat returned. I had been inspecting my mini globe when he sauntered back in. He was holding his chest and breathing heavy.
“Boss, Vickie said. Um. She said...well.” Pat fanned himself. “Kira went to get the bag back.”
“She did what?!” I tossed the mini globe I had been holding against the wall.
Pat backed away and averted his eyes. “She went to...um...get it back.”
I grabbed my keys off the desk and stormed out of the office.
“Where ar-are yo-you going?” Pat stammered.
“I’m going to get my brothers and we are getting our woman back.”
