“Boss, you can’t. It’ll start a war,” Pat pleaded.
“Do you think I give a fuck about a war? She’s all that matters!” I slammed the door.
Fuck! Why would she do that? Carlos had security everywhere. She wouldn’t get within a mile of that place. He would have her killed. Then we would kill him. A war? Who gave a damn. We would crush him.
Derek and Jason were walking toward me in the hall. Both had scowls on their faces. They knew something was up.
“She went to get the bag back,” I growled the second they were in earshot.
“We are gonna need weapons,” Derek grinned. “I have some in my room.”
“Why? You know what. Nevermind.” Jason shook his head.
We headed to Derek’s room and grabbed some knives he had. Jason took off to his room to grab some bots that spit acid. That dude was a genius. He turned nanos and small robots into anything he imagined. It was part of why we were in this mess, but it also brought Kira to us, so who was I to complain.
When we got outside all three of us cursed. Our main car was gone. Kira. She took it which meant she was ahead of us by a lot. She could already be there. If Carlos touched her he would be dead.
We ran to the garage to grab a different car. The jeep would work. None of us said anything as we jumped in and sped off to Carlos Corp. He lived at his corporation. If she knew that then she would be there.
All the lights were on. Was he having a party? No. Most couldn’t stand him. He had to pay workers just to have company.
No one stopped us from walking right in. Servants walked around busying themselves. None of them said anything to us. Jason grabbed my arm before I took another step. Carlos’ voice.
“Don’t you see. You were the reason she wouldn’t leave with me. How could a mother leave her daughter? Once I saw you, I got it. You are a spitting image of your mother.
I needed you but I couldn’t grab you off the streets.” Carlo’s voice boomed off the walls.
That fucking piece of shit. He thought he could steal our woman. Our footsteps quickened. Carlos kept talking but I couldn’t hear. Either his voice grew too low or the blood in my veins rushed too loudly.
We ran.
Carlos was in a chair across from Kira. Blood poured from his head. I couldn’t see Kira’s face. I didn’t know if she was hurt. A man held her in the chair.
She lunged forward, Screaming. Carlos backed up and fell backward in the chair. That was our girl. The man that was holding her grabbed her by the hair. She was yanked backward forcefully.
Derek reached him first. The knife in his hand sliced into the man’s neck as if it was a tender steak. Blood poured. I smiled.
“Are you insane!” Carlos screamed, clamoring from the chair.
Jason grabbed him from behind and pressed a knife to his throat. Then he let out a low whistle. A hundred tiny bots crawled up Carlos’ legs. He tried to kick them away but Jason whispered something in his ear which stopped him.
“Baby, are you okay?” I asked Kira, pulling her into me.
Footsteps echoed. A dozen guards showed up. A little late if you asked me, but they weren’t my security.
“Take one step and he dies.” Jason turned Carlos so they could see.
“You came.” She rested her head on my chest.
“Of course. You are ours.” I kissed the top of her head. “Are you okay?”
“I’m okay. I need to be uncuffed so I can kill this fucker.” She spat in Carlos’ direction.
“We got this.” I kissed the top of her head.
She pulled away from me. “He killed my mother. I’m going to kill him.” Tears streamed down her face.
“Fuck off, Bitch.” Carlos mumbled.
