Guy charged me five grand, which was nuts because I was the reason he had it. Staring at the safe, I was glad I paid the money.

Removing the tin box from my bra, I peeled back the seal. Hundreds of nanos lay dormant inside. I removed the pen from the lid. After drawing a circle around the lock, I clicked the pen on.

The tiny bots, no bigger than a push pin, jumped out of the box and attacked the lock. They were acid nanos. I wasn’t sure about the science behind it. I knew they disintegrated anything the pen had enclosed, but that was it.

The bots emitted a humming sound as they went to work. Dust flew into the air. I bounced from heel to heel, willing it to hurry up. I felt like I was standing in front of Aiden again and he was ignoring me. The bots took their time, just like he did.

After what felt like hours, but was probably only five minutes the little machines busted through the safe. I clicked the pen and they dropped like sand bugs.

Footsteps.

Shit.

I grabbed the bag and left the nanos. Which sucked because I could have sold them back to Guy for half the price.

Leaving the office I caught a glimpse of Aiden. Shirtless and still wearing his slacks. He must have just finished up or he had an alarm on his safe. I had a feeling it was the latter.

“Stop,” he commanded.

Fuck that! I took off toward the open window. His footsteps didn’t hasten, at least it didn’t sound like it. I grabbed the window and tossed it open. Not wanting to take any chances I swung myself out the window, practically head first. Stupid, I know. I panicked.

The window was close to the ground and I was able to grab onto a bush to soften the blow. A hand wrapped around my ankle.

Fuck!

Ch. 3 Kira and the escape

Iyanked my leg. Nothing. He wasn’t giving up. Granted I didn’t blame him. I did just steal from him. Not that he needed whatever was in the bag. But I needed the money the bounty brought.

My fingers were slipping from the bush. Aiden was pulling me back into the window.Nope, not gonna happen.

When I was twelve, I started acquiring items for other people. It was good cash and my tiny body fit into places others couldn’t. Shortly after I lost my mother, I was caught by a man named Tang. The man strung me by my ankles until I confessed to being paid to steal his jewelry.

Instead of being mad, Tang taught me to be better. Lesson one was to use my core to pull myself up. The reason for that was to never stay too long in a compromising position.

I twisted my body so I could see Aiden. He smiled down at me. He seemed to be enjoying that he had caught me.Not for long, Buddy.
