Across the room were glass cases. Inside were so many books I had never heard of. Unhinged Witch, Butterflies on my Window, Romeo and Juliet, 22 Saints. I ran my fingers along the glass.
“Banned books. Jason collects them,” Pat said. When I gave him a quizzical look he kept talking. “Jason is one of The Trips. He has a love of books. Spends most of his time reading.”
“It’s beautiful.” I wanted to stay. I could keep my job here and read in my free time. They would probably never realize I wasn’t an actual hire. Sighing I realized that wasn’t possible. I had to help Vickie.
“The linen closet is down the hall. Let’s get you some supplies and then you can clean in here.” Pat turned and led me to the closet. It was bigger than the alley I lived in. A family of six could have lived in there. Pat grabbed some dust rugs and a spray bottle. When I asked about the broom and mop, he laughed. Someone else did that every night.
Pat left me alone for a few hours. Instead of cleaning I curled up on a comfy leather sofa and read. This was bliss. Never in my life had I been so relaxed. Even knowing what I had to do, I fell into the story. The sun began to set in the window next to me. There was only a few hours before midnight.
“I never understood why those books were banned. That one is about a witch in The Bermuda Triangle.” Aiden walked toward me. His words were calming but his walk still had his cocky arrogance.
“I was just taking a peak.” I closed the book. “I’ll get back to cleaning, not that it needs it.”
“No worries. I’m Jason and you must be new. Not many of your people read.” Jason Cartright stuck out his hand for me to shake.
“My people aren’t afforded the same opportunities as someone like you.” I pushed past him and fled down the hall.
Jason was identical to his brother except he seemed to not be such an arrogant asshole. Although his comment about ‘your people’ was ridiculous.
Pushing aside thoughts of Jason’s scruff between my thighs, I searched for Aiden’s office. My memory was pretty good when it came to directions. Of course I wasn’t normally searching through mansions. After wandering for almost an hour, I saw the door with the two deadbolts. It was slightly ajar. The moans flowed through the air.Turn around, KIra. Get the bag and get out.
Is that what I did? No! I stood there listening to a woman’s cries of ecstasy. Then she gagged as if she couldn’t breathe. I pushed open the door because clearly the woman was in trouble. That asshole Aiden had to be hurting her.
They didn’t hear the door open. One of The Trips was laying on the sofa, butt naked. A woman in just pigtails was bent over him bobbing up and down. She would slowly lick and then suck hard causing the gagging sound. The man let out a heartfelt laughter as he grabbed her pigtails. He looked like he had never been so happy. From the gleam in his eye I could tell he was the third brother, Derek, the other two seemed too serious.
With each laugh the woman got deeper on his dick. Behind her was another of The Trips. He slid his cock in and out of her. A sheen of sweat covered his back. He had kept his black slacks on. Jason had been wearing jeans and a t-shirt. So, unless he changed, I was watching Aiden have sex. I tried to control my body, but it betrayed me. The more I watched the wetter I got. I wanted to slide my hand into my shorts and relieve the pressure.
I shouldn’t have been so turned on by this. The woman was being used as a one time thing by these men. Yet, she was more than willing. One of the men I hadn’t met yet, so I couldn’t say much about him. But the other was a complete asshole. He tossed me out of his office and here I was watching him have sex. The realization practically slapped me across the face.He was in here. That meant his office was empty.
Praying that they hadn’t noticed the bumble in the doorway, a seriously awful uniform, I turned on my heels. Forcing myself to walk slowly, I headed to his office. Visions of what I had just witnessed played in my head. I had never had sex, I mean one day I was going to and part of me wanted it to be like that. Two men filling my needs. Well, maybe three men.
Did Jason ever join them? Was he too busy to partake or did he not share like his brothers?
“Sweetie,” Pat called down the hall. He waved his hand in the air as if I didn’t see him.
I didn’t have time for his chatter. Aiden could finish at any time. Pat waved again. I sighed and approached him. “Yes?”
“You really stuck to your gun on the whole hair thing, love it. So anyway, we do a big dinner. Like so much food. You can eat as much as you want. It’s in the dining hall in the basement.” He linked his arm in mine. “I could walk you.”
Never in my life had I eaten as much as I wanted. Yea, I could find whatever food I wanted, but eating too much left less for others. There were way too many people starving on the streets to be so careless. It made me hate The Trips even more.
“I shouldn’t be surprised that they waste food,” I half muttered to myself.
“Waste? Sweetie, nothing gets tossed. We get to take leftovers back to our family’s. Then at least twice a week they donate anything that might not be used. Part of the reason New Boston isn’t as bad as other places is because of The Trips.” Pat started guiding me down the staircase.
My heart fluttered. I had known that our homeless population wasn’t as bad as other cities. Shit, it was part of the reason why I stuck around. No way did any Elite have anything to do with that.Ha, I guess I was wrong.
I could have stayed and worked for The Cartrights. Bring food to Vickie. Life could have remained as it was, only slightly better. I could have a real job instead of being a thief. I would no longer be Kira the Finder. But then what? Still live on the streets? Vickie would still hook. In Mexico we would be free. We would have a place of our own, a life not dictated by our current economic status.
I sighed and pulled my arm from Pat’s. He turned to me and scrunched up his face. “I’ll meet you there. I forgot something.” Turning from him I fled back toward the office. A piece of me broke knowing I lied to him. He had been kind to me and I used him.
Focus!
Luckily, the office was still empty. Aiden must have been dripping with sweat by now. I shook my head, that didn’t matter.
The painting that mesmerized me earlier still had the same effect. I had to stand on my tip toes to unhook it from the wall. Just like Carlos said, it covered the bag. The problem was so did a safe in the wall. At least I assumed the bag was in there.
Earlier that morning I went to visit a guy that runs a shop on 5th street. Total underground stuff. He hired me a lot in the past to get stuff for him. Two years prior he paid me to break into a lab and steal a few items. It was how I knew what I needed. Granted I could have gone right to the lab and got it from there, but there was no time for that.
