“She’s fully in heat now,” Seb said. “Let’s be grateful for that.”
I was. But fuck, I wasn’t going to be able to unhear or unsee her misery at it not being real. Because itwasreal. She had no idea how real it was. I didn’t even give a fuck where she came from or where her loyalties lay, because as far as I was concerned, our loyalty should be to her, and it was shredding me apart that it couldn’t be.
“While she’s sleeping, we’ll have to take turns monitoring things,” I said. “We can’t just disappear. I’ll go down to the office and make sure things are proceeding. Take care of anything outstanding. Text me when she wakes up.”
Derek nodded. “Either shower or use some scent canceler. The last thing we want is Delano scenting heat perfume on you and knowing we’re vulnerable.”
Good fucking point.
I shook my head as I exited the nest. What kind of fucking world was it where we had to hide our Omega’s heat for fear that someone who wanted to kill her, and kill us, didn’t find out we were helping her through her most vulnerable moments?
Stepping into the shower to rinse Selena off me, I prayed to whatever gods might be listening that our mission ended fast. We’d been steadfast for three years and were almost there. But every hour we went with Selena in our lives was one where the four of us were ripping ourselves to shreds for no reason.
I shoved her out of my mind. The faster I got downstairs, the faster I could get back to her.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
____________
SELENA
My whole body was warm and swathed in softness. A rough purr rumbled against my back, but I didn’t open my eyes. Not yet. I was in the nest with my Alphas, and while my eyes were closed, I wanted to revel in the peace it brought me.
Clearly, they’d found a blanket and wrapped me up in it, which I appreciated. Even in the middle of heat, when I slept, I got cold.
“Do you know your breathing changes when you wake up, little one?” Sebastian was the source of the purr behind me. We weren’t locked together, but he’d still stayed with me.
Without opening my eyes, I turned over. It was like cuddling with an apple pie straight from the oven. He smelled incredible, size dwarfing me as his arm came around my back to hold me to him.
“Why are you suddenly shy?”
I finally opened my eyes and found myself staring at his chest. “I’m not shy,” I whispered.
“No?” A smile hid in his voice. “Pretending to be asleep seems like it.”
“Maybe I just wasn’t ready to wake up.”
“The perfume rolling off you says otherwise,” Derek said behind me.
Just the mention of it, drawing attention to the need in my gut, ignited it like dropping a lighter onto gasoline. I shuddered and stretched, the desperate warmth of lust grabbing me with claws that had no intention of letting go.
“Will you let us play with you?” Sebastian asked.
I looked up at him. There were no tricks in his eyes, and no lies. Just genuine curiosity.
“Play?”
A hand on my shoulder turned me to where I could see Derek, and Nick was standing near the door, shirtless but back in his pants. I must have been sleeping for a while.
Derek draped something over me. I sat up and wrestled my hands out of the blankets to see what it was. Soft and silky, deep green and…
Rope.
He smirked at my expression. “We did ask to tie you up.”
“With this?”
“With this,gattina. You’ll look beautiful.”
