He put their beer in the fridge, then rushed over to join Wrath on the sofa. Without waiting for us to join, Wrath turned on the TV and started searching for the game. Wyatt let out a breath, then stepped over to me and whispered, “I’m sorry. I had no idea they were coming.”

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.” I glanced back at the boys, chuckling when I saw them giving each other a high five. “It’s gonna be fun.”

“Thanks for being so understanding.” He leaned in and kissed me on the forehead. “You go make yourself comfortable, and I’ll order the pizzas.”

I nodded, then carried my beer into the living room and sat down on the loveseat. After Wyatt placed our order, he came over and sat down next to me. At first, Savage and Wrath were too wrapped up in the game to even notice that we were sitting across from them, but as soon as a commercial break came on, Savage turned his focus to us.

He looked at Wyatt and then over to me. He raised his hand and motioned it between us as he asked, “So, what’s this about? You two finally making a go of it?”

“Don’t start with that shit,” Wyatt fussed.

“What? It’s a legitimate question,” he replied innocently. “Fuck’s sake. You two have been playing cat and mouse for years. You can’t blame us for wondering.”

Wyatt didn’t respond. He just sat there glaring a hole through Savage. I thought his silence would put an end to the conversation, but I was wrong. It only added fuel to the fire. “Well, if you two are sticking to the whole ‘we’re just friends’bullshit, then you shouldn’t care if I ask Elsie out myself.”

“And what makes you think I’d say yes?”

“You’d be a fool not to.” He turned to me with an arrogant smirk. “You know I’d show you a real good time.”

“That’s enough, Savage. It’s never gonna happen.”

“And why’s that?”

“Because Elsie’s mine,” Wyatt growled. “She always has been.”

I wasn’t sure what to make of Wyatt’s declaration. A part of me felt relieved and excited by the thought that he thought of me as his, but there was another part of me that felt annoyed that I hadn’t had some kind of say in the matter. It was that part of me that had me standing up and storming out of the room.

I went into the kitchen, and I was about to go to the fridge for a cold beer when Wyatt came into the room. “Is something wrong?”

“No,” I lied.

“You sure about that?”

“Um-hmm. Everything’s perfectly fine.” I crossed my arms as I grumbled, “I have no qualms about you announcing to your brothers that I’m yours and always have been. I mean, it would’ve been nice to have some kind of discussion about what’s going on with us beforehand, but whatever.”

“So, you are mad.” He stepped over to me and placed his hands on my hips. “The last thing I wanted to do was upset you. I thought you knew where I stood.”

“So, what you said was true?” I forced myself to look him in the eye as I asked, “You want me?”

“How can you ask that?” Seeing the swirl of emotion in his eyes as he stood there staring at me stole my breath. “Of course, I want you. I always have.”

When he pulled me close, I swallowed, holding my breath as I waited for him to lower his mouth to mine. Just before his lips touched mine, he paused. His dark eyes fell on me, searching for some kind of confirmation that I wanted this as much as he did, and when he found what he was looking for, his mouth crashed against mine. The second our lips touched, I became consumed with emotion. I didn’t question it. I didn’t let my worries of inadequacies sneak into the back of my mind. Instead, I let myself go.

I was there with him—the place I was always meant to be.

CHAPTER8

Bones

I’d planned to take things slow. It’s what she needed. It’s what she’d asked for, but the woman was driving me to the brink of insanity. The simple touch of her lips set me on fire, an intense heat surging throughout my body. Her soft, delectable lips called out to me, begging to be devoured. Our tongues met, and I became instantly addicted to her intoxicating taste—sweet warmth with a hint of mint.

A light moan vibrated through her chest as her fingers began tangling in my hair. She pressed her breasts against my chest as my hands roamed down her back and over the curves of her ass. I couldn’t believe how perfect she felt in my arms. It was like she was made for me and only me.

Remembering the guys were just in the next room, I pulled back, but when I looked down at her lust-filled eyes, I couldn’t stop myself from leaning in for another. She opened her mouth with a low moan, and I couldn’t stop myself from delving deeper, savoring the soft caress of her lips and the quickening of her breath. Just like the times before, I quickly became lost in her touch, unable to control the storm of desire that was brewing deep inside of me.

I was on the verge of scooping her into my arms and carrying her to my bed when I heard Savage shout, “There’s no way he could’ve missed that fucking foul! Where the fuck did they get these refs?”

“Come on! That’s bullshit!” Wrath roared.
