I studied his face, my mind racing with possibilities. “I can’t believe you actually want to stay here, with me.”

It didn’t seem real.

A part of me still wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or not.

But I did know that I didn’t want it to end.

Killian cleared his throat and released my hands. He lowered himself onto the floor, propped himself up on one knee and reached into his pocket. When he pulled out a blue, velvet box and propped it open, I stopped breathing.

“Is that what I think it is?”

Killian nodded. “It is.”

My breath hitched in my throat, and my hands flew to my mouth. “Killian, you can’t ask me to marry you. Serena is never going to forgive us, and you’re my boss.”

“Serena knows how I feel about you, and everyone else can go screw themselves,” Killian replied, his eyes never leaving my face. “You drive me crazy, Meg, but I’m also crazy about you, and there’s no one else I’d rather be with.”

Tears pricked the back of my eyes. “Are you sure?”

“I wouldn’t be here asking you to marry me if I wasn’t sure. So, what do you say?”

“I…you drive me crazy too.”

Killian’s lips lifted into a smile. “So that’s a yes then.”

I pulled Killian up to his feet and kissed him with tears streaming down my face. “That’s a hell, yes. I love you, Killian. And I do want to marry you.”

Killian dipped me back and pressed a firm kiss to my lips. When he pulled me back up, my head was spinning, and the butterflies in my stomach had erupted into a frenzy. With a smirk, he slid the ring, with a single red stone in the middle, onto my finger.

Then he pulled back and took my hand in his. “If you weren't healing, and if you didn't have a baby in your belly, I’d throw you over my shoulder and take you back to the bedroom right now. ”

“You can still take me to bed, you know.”

Killian scooped me up and carried me into the bedroom.

MEGHAN

Three years later…

I lifted a hand up to my face and scowled in his general direction. “You’re blocking the sun.”

Killian looked over his shoulders at me and shrugged. “You’re the one who decided to sit there.”

I lifted my glasses up and set them down on top of my head. “So, it’s my fault that you’re trying to annoy me?”

Killian twisted to face me, the late afternoon sun slanting behind him and bathing him in a warm, ethereal glow. In his swim trunks, which hung low off his hips, he looked incredibly handsome, especially with his unkempt hair tossed to the side. With a smirk, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine.

“People are staring,” I murmured, into his mouth.

“Don’t you hate it when people can’t mind their own business?”

I chuckled and pushed him away. “Yes, but we’re supposed to be professional and try to keep the PDA to a minimum.”Killian climbed onto the beach chair and placed one hand on either side of me. “Says who?”

I linked my fingers over his neck and smiled. “I’m not actually sure.”

Killian lowered his head again and stopped with his mouth inches away from mine. “I think you need a refresher course.”
