“She may be a social introvert,” he whispers under his breath. “I hope.” I laugh again catching his last sentence.
All of the car doors open at once and a small woman rushes out and comes toward us. “Where is she? Is she okay?” I can see that she is frantic.
I take her hand. “She’s still asleep. I checked on her right before I came down.” She swallows hard and the guy I assume is her dad and then a younger version of him come right behind her.
“It's nice to meet you all. Please come in and we’ll take you to her.” I have them follow me inside. Walker is in the kitchen probably throwing some breakfast together even though it’s lunchtime.
“She’s in here.” I point to the door. “I’ll give you some privacy.” I step back and go downstairs to help Walker with the breakfast.
“I’m glad that she has a good family,” Darren says when we walk in to help.
“I am too, it’s just sad that this happened to her.” I had bad dreams all night long of what could have happened to her.
I crack a dozen eggs in a bowl to make scrambled eggs. “Did I mention that you both look amazing in sweatpants?” I pinch both of their butts.
They jerk around to look at me. “I think someone is wanting to be naughty today,” Darren muses, while flipping the bacon.
“Well, I’m not sore today.” I don’t look up from the skillet.
I hear their sharp intake of breath; I smirk to myself.
There is a ring at the gate and Walker walks over and lets them in. “Who is it?”
“That’s the prospect bringing the kidnapper from last night. He’s going back to Alabama and the prospect is going to take him.”
I hear footsteps on the stairs and I walk out of the kitchen to see Opal smiling and talking with her family. “How are you feeling today?” I ask her.
She walks to me, hugging me, acting totally normal. “I feel so much better today, thank you for everything last night. All of you!” She moves to my guys hugging them.
“We’ve made breakfast before you go,” I tell them and they sit down at the table as we carry everything into the dining room.
“I’m in college studying to be a nurse right now; I want to slowly work my way up to be a doctor.” I smile at her ambition.
Her family is so nice; her parents are watching her every move, like they’re scared she is going to snap. “Do you recommend any therapists in Alabama?” her mom asks me.
I think on it. “I can make some calls and text you some numbers once I get the information.”
The one person who has not said a word is her brother. He’s looking at his plate and looks like he doesn’t want to be there at all.
“We better head on back home, thank you again for everything,” her dad thanks me and the guys.
I watch them leave from the door. I hope that she recovers well from this but she seems like she is doing fairly well so far.

I look out of the back window at Summer who is waving at us as we leave. I can feel my brother glaring at me.
“What the fuck do you want, loser?” I hiss at him, I hate him, I hate all of them! They ruin everything, she ruined everything too. This was not meant to happen this way.
My dad glares at me from the mirror. I cross my arms and with a smile on my face, look back out the window toward Summer.
