“No mom, Summer is ours,” Darren finally musters his voice then lets out a laugh like he’s in disbelief of this conversation.

She just shrugs her shoulders, like it’s no big deal. “I’m hip, down with the times, I’m cool with it, kids.” I laugh at her antics, then she looks at her husband with a thoughtful look. “Maybe we can talk your stepdad into that.”

The look on Kerry’s face has me in stitches. “Now Jenelle, you know I don’t share.” He pulls her to him and kisses her.

“Well mom. We got to go!” Darren all but drags me out of the house. “Wait, my clothes,” I tell him through my laughter. I run back in leaving him outside. I grab my two duffel bags and run back out before I interrupt.

Darren takes my bags from me from where he is waiting on the porch. He sets them in the back seat and lifts me in the truck like he can’t get out of here fast enough. “Old people need loving too, Darren.”

He looks at me horrified that I would even suggest a thing. I lay my head against the window laughing, wondering what Walker is doing right now.

We touched down in Michigan the night before. Last night after they went to sleep, I got Techy from the Devil Souls MC to find out who harmed Darren and his mother so I can be here today.

We put on our cuts; we’re not here for pleasure. I’m here to fuck shit up. “Tell me the story brother so we know why we are doing this,” Smiley, my old president, asks me.

I tell them the story of Darren and his mother, what happened to them.

The fucking second I heard the words from Darren that they were getting out, I knew what I needed to fucking do.

I found out what time they were getting released today and where. They aren’t going to enjoy a single minute as free men because Darren is still living with that shit years later; he hasn’t been a free man since they did that shit to him.

“Fuck brother, that shit is awful,” Smiley tells me, grabbing my shoulder from the back seat.

We all were in the service together, we started this MC from nothing because we wanted a brotherhood, a family. We raised all our kids together, handed over the MC to our kids then our grandkids will take over.

We pull in front of the jail. I take off my cut and set it on the seat of the SUV. A van is behind us that Maverick is driving.

The wait is long, the seconds seem to drag into fucking hours. Darren sends me a picture of Summer bent over the washing machine taking clothes out.

Fuck, I’m one lucky fucker.

“Here they come,” Konrad tells all of us.

I put my phone back into my pocket. Every fucking step they make is in sync with my heart. It’s taking everything in me not to charge through that gate and rip them to shreds.

The gate alarm is sounded and it pushes open. They are laughing, pushing each other, fucking happy and throwing insults at each other.

Konrad steps by my side, his hand on the back of my shirt. I know he is ready to stop me from charging these fuckers.

Three of them broke into a single mother’s home and tortured them for hours, fucking hours. That repeats over and over in my head.

They stop when they see all of us waiting for them. “Do we fucking know you?” One of the guy steps forward and I know by the way the others are watching him, he is the leader of the group.

Not for fucking long.

“We heard you’re good at running shit, we have a job for you,” Smiley tells them.

They look each other. “Fuck yeah we are, we were the best before we got locked away by a bitch.”

I feel calm, utterly fucking calm.

“Well come on then, we will show you your new home. How do you feel about Texas?” I ask, grinning.
