A thrill went through me at him wanting me to spend the night.
I wasn’t ignoring my brother’s warning, but it did make me feel special that I was getting to see a side of Cade that no other woman did.
“Hold, please,” I said.
Without hanging up, I quickly messaged my brother back.
Me:Something came up on Friday, and I needed to regroup and be alone. It had nothing to do with you or Em. I still love you.
I smirked. Hopefully, adding that little tidbit would make him be less skeptical of my next text.
Me:I hung out with Cade on Saturday. We went to lunch, and he took me to his work since I hadn’t been to the restaurant in a long time. I’d forgotten how fancy it was.
Beau:Weird.
Me:Why? Cade and I are friends.
I cringed, crossing my fingers, hoping I hadn’t come across as defensive.
Beau:Just be careful. Cade isn’t boyfriend material.
Me:First, I’m an adult. Two, I’ve known Cade forever. I know how he is. Three, I just got out of a relationship. I’m not looking for a new one yet.
Beau:Okay. I’m just checking.
Me:Thank you. But I’m fine.
I closed the app and put the phone back to my ear. “That’s done,” I told Cade.
“What did he say?”
“He warned me that you’re not boyfriend material.”
Cade snorted. “What did you say?”
“That it’s fine because I’m only using you for your cock.”
He groaned again. “Jesus, Rayne.”
I chuckled. “I’m kidding. I told him I already know that about you and I’m not looking for a relationship after just getting out of one.”
“Yeah, well, hearing you say things like ‘we fucked’ and you talking about my cock makes me wish you were using it right now.” He grunted. “Now, I’m hard.”
I grinned, loving that I, Rayne Thompson, had the power to make Cade Nichols hard. And it might be fun to see what else I could do.
“Yeah, well, hearing you say that makes me wet.”
“Goddammit.”
I laughed out loud.
“You’re in for it now.” His words were threatening, but I could hear the smile in his voice.
“I mean…you do owe me some lessons. This weekend was great, but I need some pointers.”
He snorted.
What did that mean?
