Rissa fought to hide her smile. Damn, the man was really something. She blinked as she shook the inane thought away and got back on track. “Maybe, but this is different. The flame is an extension of you now. The fire you kindle for your enemy often burns yourself more than them.” She walked over to him and patted his hands. “You have to be on alert from now on, think ahead of your opponent. The Coyote is a trickster.”
Luther nodded. “I was told the stories when I was a kid but I guess I never thought about the Trickster being real.”
Rissa nodded at him. “Oh, he is very real and the Shaman captured him in TankaTae. But he doesn’t think anyone knows about him after all this time.”
“What are you going to do?” Luther asked.
Rissa stared at him. “There is only one way to finally banish the Demon and Coyote and I’m going to take it. But first, we have to get you and your powers under control.”
Chapter Seven
Rissa worked with Luther for hours and hours.
She would have him center his focus on a certain subject or object. Then while he did that, she would ask him questions...his focus would falter. He would then swear and grumble as he burned something in the chamber up...yet again.
Luther glared at her for at least half the lessons. Just like he was doing this minute. “Woman, why are you trying to give me a damned migraine?”
“Is that what you have?” she asked, taunting him as she had been doing for at least two straight hours now.
He lowered his brows at her. “I had assumed you were the hero character in this wild tale of ours?”
Staring at him, Rissa laughed. “You are quick Luther, Lord of the Flame.”
He stared at her. “So, that is what you are calling me now?”
Nodding, she still chuckled. “Your hot temper is probably why the flame chose you. I can see this will be a challenge for sure.”
Luther still did not see what was so amusing. “I can’t be burning my clubhouse down, so I am submitting to this abusive training. But you sure get on my last nerve.”
Rissa tried hard not to laugh as he was already bent out of shape, so to speak. “Remember what I have said. They will attempt to trick you, getting you to lose control. And you will not only face him but others of the maniacal kind too. So always keep a little fire burning; however small, however, hidden.”
“Hidden?” he asked as he stared down at his palms that still glowed.
Nodding, she again gave him wisdom, “It could burn through everything in its path, leaving only charred remnants of what once was. So, if you do not harness it through your own will...”
He stared at her. “It will burn me.”
Feeling glad that this man, this Lord of the Fire at least understood what she had tried to impart...Rissa smiled at him.
Lucifer stared back at her and a slow smile rolled across his lips.
Rissa stared at him and realized that when he smiled, his charm could possibly unravel the strongest of females. Wow...the man was magnificent really. Amira with all her spark and spirit together with this man who was a flame unto himself? She slowly shook her head. It would either be a horrendous explosion where everyone would want to flee. Or a beautiful blaze of color crackling and pulsing like...
She caught the sudden vision in her mind....
....The lightning grew fierce as colors gleamed in through all the windows. Green, orange, and even blue glowed from it. Rain came down in heavy currents.
Amira came into the main room, heading over toward the doors, the MC men parted to allow her to go by.
Luther turned to glare at her. “What the fuck is happening?”
Amira looked confused as she stepped closer and looked out through the open door.
Lightning again struck and different colored streaks came down all over, streaking in all directions across the horizon. The sky looked dark like night and it was only about noon.
She shrugged then stilled, as she seemed to stand in place while she suddenly looked asleep.
Luther turned to her and reached out to touch her arm.
