DC leant her head against Hawk’s bicep as she laughed but her eyes stayed on me, checking that I was okay. I gave her a tiny nod and she did the same.

Our interaction was noted by both Gideon and Hawk.

“In case anyone is still wondering, let me clear it up for you. Kellen and I are together.” He squeezed my hand and smiled at me.

By the shocked looks on the faces of the bikers I knew they had never seen this side of the man.

He was suddenly very serious as he let go of my hand and turned to Hawk.

“We’ll be in touch soon with an update on our mutual business.”

There wasn’t single hint of mirth in Hawk’s golden eyes.

“I’ll be waiting for the call.”

Gideon nodded then turned back to me and his hard eyes softened.

“Get your shit, Kell, we need to leave or the pilot is going to be pissy. She likes punctuality.”

Grace was holding my jacket and backpack and she handed them to me with a tiny, but a little bit sad, smile. I wished I had realised she had a crush because I would have chatted to her to let her know I was involved with someone else. I would have let her down gently, not in your face as this was right now.

“Thanks for everything, Grace.” I said softly as I took my things from her. I didn’t touch her because that would have been wrong.

After saying my goodbyes to new and old friends we left.

I was flying back to Cape Town with my man.

It sounded strange and was something I would have to get used to.

The other thing I would have to get used to was that he was a well-known figure in the criminal underworld and I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.

Being connected to him would make me and mine a target for his enemies and the cops. I needed to know that we would be protected should any of his enemies decide to come after us.

So many things about each other we had to learn.

It was tricky but nothing we couldn’t sort out between us.

We had time.

Little did I know that I was wrong, so very wrong.

Forces I knew nothing about were about to rip my world apart.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Gideon

Kellen and I were settling into our relationship after a very rocky start. I couldn’t tell him everything but I told him as much as I could. Dom wasn’t very happy with me because Kell made me vulnerable. He was the chink in my armour and the more public our relationship became the more dangerous it became for him.

He didn’t know this.

And I didn’t want to worry him.

Instead I tripled the guards around him, guards he didn’t know about and didn’t notice.

Everything was going well.

Until the day I received a frantic call from Pixie.
