I was tempted to pull away but when he drew back the duvet I followed him into bed and allowed him to wrap himself around me.
A deep sigh escaped me as I settled in next to him. The man at my side stroked a hand over my chest as he cuddled into me.
“Sleep, Deon, you look tired as hell. Sleep.”
A warning light went of deep inside my head.
I was allowing him to get too close, it was too much. I lay in bed next to him and listened to him breathing. When it became slow and regular I slid out of his arms and got out of bed.
Standing next to the bed I looked at the beautiful man and the inviting bed and hesitated.
I almost got back into bed but I couldn’t.
I didn’t do sleep overs or long term relationships.
Mostly I hooked up with partners on whom extensive background checks had been done. And most of those men belonged to my club. A club where I could be Master Gideon and in charge of my pleasure.
I met the man sleeping peacefully in the bed only once, a week ago, and already he felt familiar to me.
Damn. I was in trouble here because I’ve never experienced this before.
It was new and uncharted territory.
Was I ready for a relationship? To settle down?
I didn’t know and before I did something stupid I had to get out of there.
Plus I had to get to the office and report back to Dom about the meet with Mitch and his mark tonight. And the woman we had set him up with.
Silently I walked back to the lounge, got dressed and let myself out of his house.
Darren was waiting for me at the car. I got in and gave Kellen’s house one last look before I turned my head away and signalled him to drive.
I knew I should have woken him up or left him a note.
I didn’t do either.
Shaking my head I focused on what I had to get done tonight, actually this morning. Work had always been my escape, and today I needed that escape to put Kellen Paxton out of my head.
If his background check came back clean I would move forward with my plans for him.
Not before.
Never making that mistake again.
Not ever.
CHAPTER SIX
Kellen
I woke up alone and was instantly pissed off.
I checked my phone, no messages, and then I checked the house and didn’t find a note. I even checked under the bed and under the chairs in the lounge. Just in case it had fallen on the floor.
Nothing.
He had taken what he wanted and then left.
