“Have you had a chance to talk to Pixie about her wanting to sell her shares?”
Dom immediately looked pissed off.
“I tried, she blew me off. Have you had any luck talking to her?”
“No, not since the last time we talked. She said she needed the money for expansion. As I told you, I offered to invest in her studios as a silent partner or buy her share of the company outright. I’m still waiting on her response.”
He dragged a hand through his hair with a sigh and a groan.
“Let’s sit down with her once we’ve dealt with the Harrisons and hammer out a plan of action. I would like to hear her plans for expansion and if she’s willing I want to invest, the same as you. We’re a family and we should be supporting each other, not fight about stupid shit.”
I nodded in agreement.
Dom was right, the senseless fighting between Pixie and us needed to end. We had to stand together because the Maingarde Corporation wasn’t out of the woods yet. Dom had been working unceasingly to restore the good name of their family. They needed to be seen as a united front.
And if what Sergei Orlov had given us was true we were fighting to free ourselves from one crime syndicate only to have another try to pull us back into the muck.
“Has Rico found anything new regarding Sergei Orlov?” I asked.
Dom shook his head with an irritated grunt.
“Nothing significant. It’s like he appeared in the Demidov family out of the blue. One day he was just suddenly there and unofficially listed as third in line. Yevgeni is the patriarch, his son Viktor is his right hand and according to gossip Sergei is the left hand. More gossip states that Sergei can’t stand Viktor and vice versa. How true that is we don’t know. What I do know is that I’m willing to give Sergei the benefit of the doubt. He did supply us with a vital lead as to the location of the hag.”
“You’re right, he did but we don’t know enough about him to trust that he’s one of the good guys. Have you heard from him since the meeting?”
“No, but I wasn’t expecting to hear from him yet. If they play it the same way the Harrisons do they will let us think we’re safe. Then when we least expect it they will make the second approach and it won’t be as friendly as the first.” Dom’s top lip lifted in disgust.
“I’ve had Pixie covered since your meeting with them and so far it’s been quiet. Rooster has been hanging out at the studio most days and when he isn’t there one of the other patched members are there. No prospects. The Road Warriors have to have heard whispers to up their visibility at the studio like that.”
I wanted this shit done so badly because the bad feeling in my gut kept growing.
I was about to say more when my phone rang with the tone I had been waiting for. Mitch.
Thumbing it open I barked at him.
“Where the hell have you been? Are you okay?”
His voice was whisper soft and he was panting. “I don’t have long. Sharma has been ordered to hit the Dogz in Jozi. They are on their way.”
“Get the hell out. Right the fuck now.” I ordered as softly.
“Sorry, man, it’s not possible. There’s something I…” The call abruptly ended.
I looked at Dom. My phone had been on speaker, he had heard exactly what I had.
Mitch wasn’t good, not good at all.
“We have to get to him, Dom. I don’t know how he managed to call me but I don’t have a good feeling about this.” My voice sounded strained even to my own ears.
Dom stood and at the same time he sent out a call to the team. It was time to get ready to execute our plan. That meant I had to call Kid as soon as possible.
I left Dom’s office as he placed a call to Hawk Walker.
Walking into my office I called Kid Knight.
“Ja.”
“Kid, it’s Gideon Acheson.”
