“Gideon, what can I do for you?” His voice was cold, without any inflection.
“I need a favour and in exchange I will owe you one, whatever it might be. There are things about to go down and I need Kellen to be safe. Your compound is the safest place for him.”
There was a beat of silence before he answered.
“Why won’t he be safe at the Maingarde Estate or in your building?”
Shit.
I knew he would ask but I hated having him know our business. But it couldn’t be avoided.
“All I can say is that his guards will be otherwise engaged.”
A short laugh came over the line.
“I’m fucking with you, Gid. Bring him over; he can stay in the clubhouse. Noe is climbing the walls because she’s uncomfortable as hell and still has two weeks to go. It will get her mind off it if she has someone to fuss over.”
Hell, I’d forgotten she was that far along in her pregnancy.
“Shit, are you sure? I don’t want to cause problems by bringing Kell over when you’re already stressing about the baby.”
“Stop worrying, and bring your man over. I’ll get the girls to prepare a room for him. When do you think you’ll bring him?”
The difference between the Kid I had first met in Johannesburg and the man he was now was enormous. And it all came about because he had found his family and his woman.
“According to his doctors they will discharge him either tomorrow or the day after. I’m going to arrange for it to happen sooner rather than later. I want him settled before things start heating up.”
There was a short silence before he spoke.
“Right. I get it. We’ll talk when you get here. His room will be ready for him and I’ll have two brothers assigned to him at all times. One of our women has medical training and will be assigned to him as well.”
His voice was back to short and all business.
I did the same.
“We’ll talk when I bring him in. I’ll call beforehand to give you a heads up.”
Kid gave a short grunt.
“We talk soon, brother. We’ll be waiting.”
He ended the call abruptly and I dropped my phone on my desk with a grunt of satisfaction.
Kellen would be safe and that was all that mattered.
Now to approach his doctors to organise his discharge.
It had to take place as soon as possible.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Dominick
My fingers tapped restlessly on my desk as I contemplated the call I was about to make.
I couldn’t make the call until Rico ensured it was safe to do so. It always pissed me off that someone somewhere might listen in to my conversations.
That was why I did the minimum on my phone.
