Osirus took his bag and pulled himself out a new set of clothes. All the while, I searched through my own and put on a lilac dress with the same design features as the last. Osirus, being the gentleman that he was, kept his back turned and eyes closed while I dressed. However, when it came time for him to change, without warning, he started stripping.
“Whoa there!” I squealed, surprised.
Osirus smirked. “What is it, darling? I’m just giving you a preview of what else you could see later.” My face blushed scarlet, and I turned my head in a huff while giggling excessively.
The sun was setting, and I had fallen asleep multiple times on Osirus, who gladly took it upon himself to hold me through the entire rest of the ride. His warmth and the swaying of the carriage only kept me in my deep sleep.
The carriage slowed, and a few large bumps in the road jostled me awake. “We’re here, darling.” Osirus took in a large breath and held me close. “We’re home.”
The carriage door was suddenly opened. Alaneo smiled back at us with warmth. “Come, Your Majesties, let’s get you to your chambers.”
Osirus left the carriage first, only to turn around, grab my hand, and gently put my feet on the ground. The palace was grand, with huge white marble and granite adorning the outside. Looking upward, it reached the sky as if it was part of the clouds. The suns were setting to the west, casting an ethereal glow on the colorful stained glass windows of fairies and fae.
“Here.” Alaneo produced a cape and put it around me.
The cape was enormous and white, with a hood on the back, with gold swirls of flowers and thorns.
Osirus put the hood up. It was huge enough to see out of and cover my face from prying eyes. “For tonight, I want to get you inside before we announce your arrival. I want to be sure my most trusted guards and soldiers are on our floor to protect you.”
I nodded and interlaced my hands with his, giving him a large smile. His smile was also substantial. It made my heart flutter, finally trying to let my walls down so that we may truly be together.
Maybe this would not be so bad, our two souls becoming one someday. He was the first male I had ever had this much desire and care for.
My hood kept me hidden, but it didn’t obstruct the views I was desperately trying to see. We had arrived at the servant’s entrance at the back of the palace; many fae were working in the kitchen as we entered, and several stopped to watch their King walk through, but Alaneo cleared his throat, and they all continued with their work.
Swiftly, I was led to a hallway with large windows with the sunset streaming in. The long hallway had pristine golden carpet, not an ounce of dirt laid anywhere on the intricate detail of the golden threads. There was so much gold, but I guessed that it was because we were in the Golden Light Kingdom. The clanking of some of the metal behind me, being that of Everett, Finley, and Braxton, continued to follow us as we reached an enormous staircase.
Statues of fae, fairies, and sprites in crystal decorated the large space. Many had limited clothing on their bodies, just enough to cover their private areas. There were statues like this on Earth, so I couldn’t judge too harshly.
As we passed by a window, I saw a massive garden filled with beautiful flowers, and I couldn’t help but stop. Pinks, maroons, reds, yellows, and orange-colored flowers littered the garden, all in a specific order to give it an orderly and decorative look. The path in the garden wasn’t hard cement but beautiful blue stones with large clear orbs along the edges of the path. Each orb had a faint light glowing inside. I’m sure it looked magnificent in just the glow of darkness.
Osirus
My little darling was staring out at the garden. It had been specifically manicured today for her arrival. Once I saw her gazing at the bouquet of wildflowers from a panther cub, I couldn’t help but have her pleased. Alaneo was quick to tell a local sprite to send word to the head servant of the east wing to decorate with flowers. I was sure many were talking, and making her happy was superficial, but I didn’t care. I wanted it to feel like home.
Once we arrived in our royal bed chambers, she would be even more surprised at the flowers that would be presented there. Squeezing her hand lightly, I led her away from the window and down the east wing corridors. These corridors were specifically for our future family and us once we had children. No one was to come down these halls except specific servants, maids, and guards. The royal family would always be protected. Growing up here with my parents and my brothers was enjoyable.
Now that my family had moved to the far north of the kingdom, away at the Winter Quarters part of the territory, it was just me. It was rewarding, albeit lonely. I could wallow in self-pity for having no mate.
The hallways had been cleaned, and vases of flowers and decorations of small, delicate trees lined our way to our room. Taking a deep breath, I prayed to the Gods it was ready. This was to be our home, where we would complete our bond when she was ready to have me. Our first child would be born here, and many mornings and nights of lovemaking would be done in this one room.
My chest tightened at the joy that she should hopefully have here. Opening the door, Melina gasped at the glory that it stood.
The large living area had a chandelier covered in rubies, diamonds, sapphires, and other precious gems known to Bergarian. The carpets were plush, white as snow and the sitting area looked to be out of the Gods’ Celestial Kingdom on Olympus.
Melina’s mouth was agape, hoping she was enjoying the view. I put my hand on her lower back and escorted her into the room.
“What do you think?” I bent down and whispered in her ear.
She continued to walk forward, touching the plush couches and looking out at the overly large, windowed balcony doors. The east ocean sparkled as the last bit of the light sources faded on the other side of the palace.
“It’s b-beautiful. I’ve seen nothing like this.” Her voice was raspy from not speaking, but the tone of it was light. She was happy, in turn making me elated.
“I’m glad you think so.” I grabbed her waist and pulled her close. “Let me show you our bedroom.” Melina giggled and gave me a “no-nonsense now” look. Alaneo and the guards still stood in the living area, awaiting their next orders.
Cracking the door first, I could see dozens upon dozens of flowers in vases and pots scattered in the room. With one final push, hoping to see flower petals across the bed and floor, I saw none other than the bane of my existence.
