“Before class begins would be the most efficient use of my time. As far as the day, it matters little to me.”
Moving on to the next item, she asked, “Do you have any requirements for the shoot?”
He looked at her strangely.
Explaining, she said, “Like getting a list of the questions beforehand or topics you would like me to cover. Anything like that?”
“You are doing an interview, correct?”
“I am…” she answered with hesitation.
“Then you are in control of the interview, and I have no need for other requirements.”
Brie bowed her head slightly, honored by his trust in her. Scratching the item off her list, she asked her final question. “In the past, I’ve filmed the trainers performing a scene. Is that something you would be opposed to?”
When he frowned, she immediately scratched it off the list.
Master Nosh looked at her in confusion. “Why would I mind? I am not ashamed of what I do.”
She silently laughed at herself for making that assumption before listening to his answer. In the margin, she wrote,He said yes!
“I have to warn you that it will require anothershoot.”
His frown deepened. “Can we not do it on the same day?”
She smiled. “Certainly, Master Nosh. I’m simply concerned since it would make a long day for you with an interview and filming a scene, on top of teaching your class, which doesn’t end until midnight.”
The head trainer looked nonplussed. “Matters of importance normally require sacrifice.”
“I am deeply honored you feel that way, Master Nosh.” Brie was awestruck by the head trainer’s commitment to her documentary. “Can you give me an estimate of how much time you will need for the scene so I can add it to the schedule?”
“A half-hour…” he replied, then furrowed his brow thoughtfully and corrected himself. “No, make it an hour. I must allow enough time for adequate care afterward.”
“Noted.” Knowing her time was drawing to an end, she stood up, telling him, “That’s all I had for you tonight.”
“I have one thing I would like to add to this conversation.”
Brie immediately sat back down. “Yes, Master Nosh?”
“Hollywood makes a poor habit of depicting the indigenous people of this country in a negative light. I agreed to this interview because I know that is not your intention.”
She bowed her head in shame for what she knew her industry was capable of, nodding. “I’m mortified by theway the film industry has treated Indigenous Americans. It is a gross injustice that cannot and should not be tolerated any longer.”
“Exactly,” he stated quietly but with great force.
“Master Nosh, is there anything else you would like me to know before I leave?”
He shook his head and stood up, holding out his hand to her. “I look forward to the interview, Mrs. Davis.”
Brie shook his hand firmly, her heart bursting with profound gratitude.
Riding on the high of the encounter, Brie immediately phoned Michael Schmidt once she had returned to her car.
“Mr. Schmidt, this is Brie Davis. I’m ready to begin working on the film again.”
“It’s good to hear from you, Mrs. Davis,” the film editor said with a note of surprise in his voice. “If you believe you’re ready for the pressure of this project, I should be able to gather the rest of the team first thing next week.”
“Wonderful. I just finished speaking with the head trainer of the Dominant Training Course about an interview.”
