Page 38 of Chill’s Chance

Chill’s laughter is long and loud. “You guys really are a couple of idiots, aren’t you?” She asks when she finally stops laughing. “Do you really think my club cares about your worthless alibis? They aren’t cops, dumbass. They know I went to the casino. My club owns the damn place. Do you really think we don’t have cameras inside and out? That we leave our bikes unprotected in the parking lot? By now thy already know what happened to us and they’re coming. There is nowhere for you to hide.”

“Then maybe we should just kill you now.” Billet says. I hear the fear in his voice and risk opening my eyes. Abbott is standing between me and Chill while Billet steps closer to Chill.

In one smooth move, Chill wraps her legs around Billet’s neck and squeezes. Her sudden movement has Abbott taking a step back, which brings him closer to me. I mimic Chill and follow her lead. Both men struggle to free themselves, but now we have the upper hand. It doesn’t take long before both men drop to the floor unconscious.

“Now what?” I ask Chill. “Wait until the calvary arrives?”

She shakes her head at me as she lifts her legs, using her abs and back muscles to push them up to the steel beam. My jaw drops open at her strength and agility as she unhooks herself so she can straddle the beam. Using her still bound hands, she slips a knife out of her bra and cuts the bindings. Sliding over to me, she positions the knife against my bindings.

“Ready?” she asks. I answer yes just before she cuts me loose. I drop to the ground and look up to help her down.

“How the fuck did you do that?” I ask her.

“Practice.” She says with a grin as she slides the knife back into her bra. The knife is thin and fits inside the material under her breasts. Nifty little hiding place.

“You’ve practiced that?” I ask, still stunned. “How the hell do you practice something like that? And why?”

She shrugs. “Dice and I take turns coming up with tricky situations and figuring out ways out of them. It helps us be better at keeping prisoners contained and gives us a chance if we find ourselves captured. We got the idea from the SOA in our NOLA chapter, Abra. He’s a former magician.”

While she’s explaining this to me, we’ve used the bindings and our prisoner’s belts to hogtie them. Once done, Chill heads over to the table holding our clothes. We find my phone and Claudia’s phone on the table, both turned off. Chill picks up her kutte and grins at me as she pulls out her phone. “Idiots.” She says and dials the calvary.

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: CHILL

“Chill.” I hear Puma’s concern and relief in that one word.

“Yeah.” I respond. “I take it you know what happened?”

“Jonathon called us.” Puma says.

“Who’s Jonathon?” I ask.

“The valet. He remembered seeing a guy wandering around by his station looking for someone earlier. He wanted to tell you about it, so he followed you outside. Saw the guys grab you. He ran to get help, but you were gone by the time he found security. They reached out to me.” Puma explains.

“Huh.” I say, maybe Jonathan has potential.

“Who grabbed you?” Puma asks.

“Abbott and Billet.” I tell him. “Seems they have a beef with me. The colonel is on his way here, too. We’ve taken care of Abbott and Billet, but I don’t know where we are. I think we’re in a basement. No windows. We’re heading up and outside.”

“We’re on our way. We have the building in view.” Puma says. “Should be there in less than five.”

When Puma ends the call, I see Hunter pulling on his clothes, so I follow suit. I’m just pulling on my kutte when I hear a noise outside the door. I pull Hunter behind the door as we wait to see if it’s my brothers or if the colonel beat them here. The clamor of multiple boots hitting cement gives me all the information I need. My guys are here.

Puma bursts into the room first, with several of the men behind him. He gives me a bro hug as he glances at Abbott and Billet on the ground.

“I hope you brought a bus, because I want their asses in The Pit.” I tell Puma. “But I want to get the colonel, too. Where did you guys park?”

“Down the road and behind a rock formation.” Wildcard says. “We weren’t sure what we were up against. Dice is outside, watching. If he sees anyone coming this way, he’ll let us know.”

I nod. “Where are we?” I ask.

“Near to the clubhouse.” Wildcard says. “I think this used to be an old airfield.”

Puma looks down at his phone when it dings. “Dice said someone is driving up the road. Probably the colonel. How do you want to play this? There isn’t any place to hide but in this room.” He asks me.

I glance around and make a quick call. “Get Dumb and Dumber in the corner and leave the door open. Everyone else stay against the wall. Puma, can you shut the door once he’s inside?” Puma nods and everyone moves into position. “Hunter, you and I need to pretend like we’re still strung up.” Grinning, he nods before lifting me up so I can grab hold of the hook. He jumps and does the same.

I hear a single pair of boots approach the door. The colonel calls out for Abbott and Billet but doesn’t slow his progress. When he steps into the room, I see a huge smile on his face. As I suspect, he’s too busy gloating to realize the danger he’s put himself into. He gets four feet in before it dawns on him. Puma slams the door shut while Hunter and I drop to the floor.
