“Helping you get ready for the doctor,” I said, kneeling before her as I removed her jeans. “Though I wouldn’t mind doing my own exam first.” I inched closer, the scent of her intoxicating.

“What? Enzo,” she chided.

But I could tell she was completely turned on by the idea. Fuck, so was I. My dick was pressing against the zipper of my jeans, and I would’ve killed to be inside her. I spread her legs, and she tangled her fingers in my hair.

I wanted to strip her naked and make her squirm. I wanted to worship every inch of her body until she screamed my name. But a knock at the door interrupted my fantasy.

“You ready?” a woman’s voice called.

“Yep!” Harper chirped, quickly covering herself with the sheet before hissing at me to “Stand up!”

I stood quickly and turned away, pressing against my hard-on to try to make it less obvious.

The doctor came in, followed by her nurse. They conducted a brief exam and asked some questions. The doctor lifted Harper’s shirt and squirted some gel on her stomach, and I gave her hand a squeeze.

And then my attention was on the screen. I stared at the little black-and-white image, trying to understand what I was seeing. It looked like a little blob inside a bigger blob. Was that really a baby? My baby?

“Incredible, isn’t it?” Dr. Fulton asked. “There’s the head.” She indicated to it on the screen. “Two arms. Two legs and feet.”

“Strong feet.” Harper smiled.

I nodded, still in awe.

“Do you want to know whether you’re having a boy or a girl?”

Harper shook her head. “Could you please put the answer in an envelope? We want it to be a surprise until the party.”

Sylvia wrote something down and then slipped it into an envelope before handing it to me. “Congratulations.” She smiled. “Being a parent is the best job in the world.”

I wasn’t sure how I was going to juggle my career and my new role as a father, but I pushed those thoughts away. For right now, I was grateful to be part of this family.
