“I change my mind. We can watch later.”

"Are you tired?" Travis asked.

"Not at all," I murmured. "I’m sated, happy. I’d add a bunch of other positive things, but my brain is a bit mushy.”

"How do you want me to spoil you?"

I widened my eyes, suddenly feeling more alert than before.

He laughed. "You look five hundred times more awake than three seconds ago."

"Being spoiled is a great incentive.”

“Do you have any cravings?”

"Not right now, but I’m sure I’ll get some soon."

"And I'm happy to oblige every single one of them. Go wild."

"You like to live dangerously, don't you?" I teased.

"When it comes to you, fuck yes."

"Hmmm... I've always wanted to go on a roller coaster."

His eyes narrowed. "Are you messing with me?"

"No, I always wondered about the thrill of it."

"How about we shelve that for the next seven months?"

I blinked. "You think it could hurt the baby?"

"What about we don't try?"

"I could ask the doctor," I wondered out loud.

"Bonnie." His voice was all but a growl.

I trained my eyes on him again. His gaze was feral, but not in the way it had been during sexy time. This was different. It was his protective instinct coming out to play, and I loved it.

I laughed, turning onto my back. "Okay, I'm shelving that for later, and I'll ask for something simpler today. I'm in the mood for burgers. Before I left Chicago, I once ate one that had a portobello mushroom instead of meat patty. It was delicious."

"Then we’ll have burgers with portobello mushrooms for dinner," he said.

"Really?"

"Babe, if they're somewhere in Chicago, I'll get them for you. And if they're not in Chicago anymore, I’ll still find a way to get it for you. I told you there isn't anything I wouldn't do for you, and I meant it."

I knew without a doubt that he meant it. It was humbling and terrifying. Could this be real? Things like this never happened to me.

“Bonnie, move in with me.”

“Ah, sothisis the right moment. I’m vulnerable and already swooning. But it’s not a good idea, Travis. You know it’s not. I don’t want to rush into this. What if I give up my apartment and it doesn’t work out?”

His eyes instantly turned hard. “Then keep it.”

“No. I don’t want to get used to it.”
