“Maybe someday,” I murmur to myself.

My phone rings on the desk and I see Lacey’s name on the screen, so I swipe to answer her call.

“Hey Lace! What’s up?”

“Hi Em! Not too much, I was just calling to let you know I’m sending over my next episode for editing and posting and whatever magic it is you do to make them great.”

My heart dances with amusement at the compliment. “Great! I’ll be sure to have it ready to go so it’s up first thing tomorrow morning. What did you do this time? Or are you going to make me wait until I watch it?”

“Graham and I had some fun this time! We each took ten dollars to the Awesome Flea Market, bought several different pieces, and turned them into functional things for a home or office, like a stool and a magnetic knife rack and cool looking bathroom shelves.”

“You never cease to amaze me, Lacey Fox.”

“Well thank you very much. But it’s your work that makes me look good, so thanks for all you do. Oh, by the way, did you hear from Hadley about a new website? She was talking about it the other day.”

I stand up and walk to the window with my phone to my ear to pull Lola off the screen so she doesn’t rip it. “Yeah, I did actually! Just talked with her late last week and have a rough draft website sent to her for approval. I’m super excited about it. She’ll be able to start filling online orders now.”

“That’s awesome. She seemed really pumped about the idea of expansion. You’ll have to teach that girl how to TikTok.”

“Oh, my God, can you even imagine Hadley on TikTok?” I giggle. “They might censor her t-shirts alone!”

“HA! You’re right! Especially on Mother-fucking-Monday when everyone has to swear to get service.”

“Good point! But then again, there would be an entire side of TikTok who would love to see that in action.”

“You’re right about that,” she laughs. “Hey, are you and Emmett coming in for St. Patrick’s Day? You know Wood’s gonna throw one hell of a party.”

“Hell yeah, we’ll be there. I don’t think either of us has missed a St. Patrick’s Day at Wood’s in years.”

“Great. So, we’ll see you in a couple weeks then!”

“Yep. Count us in. We’ll be there.”

“Alright, girl. I’ll talk to ya soon.”

“Ok. Bye Lace!”

Excited to watch Lacey’s next video, I head to the kitchen for an iced tea before finishing the day’s work.

“Honey! I’m hooooome!” Emmett shuffles inside the door with a smile on his face and a bouquet of flowers in his hands.”

My face lights up when I see him looking so happy. Not every workday is great for Emmett, but today must have been a good one. “Hey!” I set the iced tea down and greet Emmett as he steps inside. “Well, look at you all sexy and smiley today. Are those for me?”

He hands me the beautiful bouquet of brightly colored spring flowers and kisses my cheek and then my lips. “They sure are. A beautiful bouquet for a beautiful woman.”

“Well, thank you. What’s the occasion?”

He opens his arms wide, beaming with joy. “I’m celebrating!”

I can’t help but suck in his joy and give it right back to him. Maybe it’s just the beautiful day and the warm weather or the spring season that brings hope of new things but seeing him happy makes my heart happy.

“And what are we celebrating?”

“Five new clients this week, Em! And I’m not just talking little clients, though every client is important. I’m talking five new clients…from five different large corporations and they all accepted my marketing design ideas, so I was awarded the accounts!”

“Five new clients?” My jaw drops. Five clients in a week doesn’t usually happen around here. “Holy shit Emmett, that’s amazing!” I fling my arms around his neck and embrace him as tightly as I can, happiness bubbling up inside me. He wraps his arms around me and swings me around in front of the couch, our laughs filling the living room.

“I’m so proud of you.”
