His eyes light up. “Did you ever do a profile on Blake? I’m interested.”

“I did. I can email my findings.”

“Oh, a new doll prospect?” Ny sings as she comes back to the living area in a black leather pencil skirt, gray blouse, and sexy black patent leather heels.

As if without thought, both Gio and I move to her sides. I brush a lock of hair behind her ear and Gio leans in to kiss her cheek.

“Yeah, Car’s friend. I’ve been interested for a while. I don’t like the read I got on her husband. I’m about a hundred-percent sure that cocksucker beats on her.”

“Let’s drop his ass. Give me his name, I’ll go see him.”

Gio smiles. “Damn, I love having you back home. She hasn’t asked for help yet. When she does, he’s all yours.”

“Let’s get to this appointment if you want to catch Toni atAnima Mias,” I say.

“Andiamo,” Gio says.

Nyla

“Thank you, Ms. Manning. You can have a seat. We’ll call you in shortly,” the receptionist says as I hand over the clipboard.

“Can you tell Dr. Marshall that Mr. Di Lorenzo and his fiancée are here? If she’s out for a delivery, we can’t wait, we’ll have to reschedule,” Gio says as he walks up beside me and places a hand on my back.

“I’ve already informed her of your arrival. You won’t have a long wait.”

I don’t miss the way she turns to look at one of the others on the other side of her desk. Jace comes over right then, cups my forehead and tugs my head back a little to dip and peck my lips. I’m a little surprised, but when I look at the expressions on their faces, I can’t help but smile.

Clearly, there’s a story here. I shrug it off and turn to take a seat with Gio and Jace on either side of me. Almost as soon as we settle in, my name is called. They both stand with me.

“Do you want us to come with you?” Jace asks nervously.

I smile up at him. “I’ll be fine. I’ll have them call you guys back for the consult. It might get a little crowded with you two big guys in the room while she’s looking up my snatch.”

They both kiss my cheeks. I shake my hands out at my sides and turn for the open door. I’m most concerned about my age. I don’t know if what we have planned will be considered a high-risk pregnancy because I’m older.

There’s a huge part of me that wants to wait until we get through all this drama, but that’s just more time. Time I’m not willing to waste. I just pray it’s possible.

Gio and Jace both reach to squeeze a hand and I relax into the comfort they lend me. I can do anything with them. We’ve got this.

Chapter 35

Favor Done

Gio

I tug Ny into my side and kiss the top of her head. She hasn’t said a word since we left the clinic and got into the car. I, for one, am in shock. We’re about to do this.

Nyla will go through some tests and she has to do a panel of blood work, but we’re moving forward to be parents. I didn’t know I wanted this so much. Not until I watched the light in Ny and Jace’s eyes.

This will make my family happy. That brings me more joy than I know how to express. Which is why I need to fix this shit so we can move on with our lives.

“Talk to me,” I murmur into her hair as we ride in the SUV.

She’s silent at first, causing me to believe she’s not going to answer. When she lifts her head and looks in my eyes, all I see is sadness.
